Now Sophia is better than a fully reduced John.

A thing to not about john is that he only has 20% health but he starts out at baron, meaning he can gain an additional 31 battle ability. In the end, sophia will have around 10 battle ability less than him and loses his mountain fighting, but gains artillery master so she is more likely to crit. Who would you guys say is better and why?
Mahmud
Sophia
Or John

Friedrich “Fried Rice” Paulus, Obvious Mahmud II. Mahmud II (Aura buff, crit skill) > John (two terrain skill) = Sophia (terrain skill and crit skill)

Mahmud II (Aura buff, crit skill) > John (two terrain skill) = Sophia (terrain skill and crit skill) True, but I just tried out john and he is also quite strong. Jungles are also pretty common too. Mahmud definitely has good things going for him tho.

I couldn't get used to Mahmud. So I sold him back.. Now I'm undecided Sophia or Napoleon. I have John who I know I'll keep but he needs some back up beside the other guy Jourdan. I hate how weak artillery is in EW6... I have a maxed Sophia and she deals 70/80 damage against units... I thought I was playing with an overrated general , but with cloud safe I tried an almost-bulked Alex I and he made less damage than Sophia... I was shocked ! I believe that focused artillery generals are not that useful... I mean , even Radesky is a good artillery/cavalry/naval/everything general doing a little less damage of artillery focused emperors..

Alexander’s damage is mediocre when he isn’t on mountains. But the extra aura helps. Try using rocket artillery. The other day, I got alexander to hit 160 on them and one shot an enemy. As for the damage, remember that artillery is not meant to kill land units, it is meant to kill forts and naval units. Even my napoleon with alexander’s health never hits above 130. But not being retaliated definitely helps.

If that’s what you don’t like about artillery, then you really should try John. He is like the Govorov of EW6. Remember to place him on the combined tiles.

But not being retaliated definitely helps. Actually, arty pieces have a anti-armour ability (less commonly exploited except at endgame) and RA has anti-inf capabilities. Even so, most of the time, arty is not meant to be used against land units so low dmg is expected.
