Right now I need gold in order to build 3 more buildings, and upgrade to the next age. Right now I have somehow beat the defense mission I was farming with 3 stars, and the next one is too difficult for me to farm with. Is there any quick way for me to farm the remainder of the coins I need to make the necessary upgrade?

I was going to suggest defence missions, you want to find one that you can do every time and pretty quickly but not good enough for 3 stars. You can always redo some attack missions but it is fairly tedious for not much reward I'm afraid. |

I agree, defense missions always were the best way to farm gold. There is always a couple of missions you can't pass with 3 stars... However, if you need experience for your generals as well I recommend special chapters in campaigns.
Daily invasions give a reasonable amount of gold as well, so don't neglect them. Sometimes they seem to be unbeatable, but if you and your opponents are close enough , - there is always a chance you can win it here and there...

The last Caesar scenario (classical are campaign) will give you 1000 coins and can be replayed quickly if you are at least in discovery age.

Actually, now I have unlimited diamonds and paintings cuz of them. But I need around 50000 gold, as I want to reach 125 buildings in empire as fast as possible, as I am at 119 now. Good advice |

Not only that... I remember Attila alone was able to clear it  But later defense missions can give you more coins with less efforts. |
