let me introduce some basic tactics to you:
1. surrounding:
when a troop is surrounded, there moral will drop and they don't deal as much damage to you as before. note: the enemy troops (that is surrounded) won't deal as much damage as before, but you will stil deal the same damage.
2. upgrading cities/factories:
try to upgrade cities and factories from the start, it's way to overpowered in the game. you earn the invested money back in a few turns.
3. efficient troop use:
use your troops in the following orders when trying to gain a city: 1. artillery/navy. bombard them from distance, so they don't have as much health as before, so they won't deal as much damage as before (when a troop lost health, it won't deal as much damage when a troop has full health) 2. infantery. 3. horse. horses can capture the city inmediately when destroying the troops. which is very usefull

Each individual conquest can turn out to be entirely different from the others even though you play the same nation. So it is quite common that things won't go exactly as mentioned in each guide. And when that happens, you will need to adapt your strategy based on the situation. For example, in the case of Oldenburg in the Sweden conquest, you might make your base of operation in Kiel and attack Amsterdam from there instead.
