Thanks for these advices. I've got an unexpected one star by following these ones (of zabadanov86 and Jonblend) :
- To avoid the forts and artillery on the south way. My troops followed my allies ont the north. Then i divided them in two teams. One to destroy Gorchakov by the east coast of north Italy. And the other one helped my allies to attack Menshikov place on the NE. Then, i take this key point and defend it with the rest of my troops.
- Two turns before the end, i approached the last target (SE, Nicholas) with Murat (with high HP). I didn't attack Sophia, and stopped at two hexes of Nicholas. He left the place and i could take it and hold it on the two last turn.

Except for 3 missions in Crimean War, I used the following 8 generals for 3-star/S-rank: Karl, Massena, Barclay Murat, Davout, Dabrowski, Lan Mahmud II
And the team also got 2 stars for Siege, 1 star for Baltic Campaign, 1 star for Balaclava
My 2nd team got 3 stars for Baltic Campaign: Karl Murat, Davout, Lan Nelson, Hood, Treville, Jervis
4 navy generals were an overkill.
Then my 3rd team got 3 stars for Siege, 2 stars for Balaclava Karl Murat, Davout, Dabrowski, Lan, Ney, Paget, Bagration
Now only 1 star is missing... Any recommendation for the last team?

I'm not sure it's possible to get 3 stars with only 8 generals. The players who got 3 stars on all challenge had at least 10 generals. But maybe i'm wrong. Considering the use of the med pack, it could be possible. I cannot use them on microsoft, but if you can have them, it must be a good help in these challenge.
Has anyone ever succeeded with only 8 generals ?

I played the game on PC, so I guess med packs would not be available? Right now I am building up a team of 4 infantry generals and 4 artillery generals. Will see how far they'd go in Balaclava.

For those who remembered how you cleared it, what do you assign to attack Northern Italy and do you dive through the centrL gap along Sophia's lines or wheel around and pass through the opening to the SW corner of her line? Do we support our allies' attack cross the whole of the central line or do we launch a sharp thrust into the northern or south edges?
Trying to launch a successful Charge of the Light Brigade (which I believe is the main inspiration for this challenge) with a cav centric force without any cav gens is insane.

Finaly obtained 3 stars in Balaclava war and finished the game
Infantry: Karl-Massena-Barclay. With Ambulance and tent. Artillery: Alex-Mahmud -John and Scharnhorst. Tanks: Suvorov (tent) - Nelson Armored car: Lanes Heavy cavalry: Jourdan and Gates
No medpack used (because there should have been no challenge). I did the others (siege...) before without medpack. I gave up more than one year ago, didin't play the game and then realised recently we could use more plots in the last evolution of the game. And obtain a lot more medall in daily challenge. So i completed my team. And succed at last. Victory thanks to last offensive of allies on Nicolas.
