Here is War Master's 1950 Egypt guide, even though its overpowered,
1) You dont need to have fully upgraded generals. Just ensure they have sufficient health stats and skills.
2) Early 1980 tech is good, late 1950 is ok too.
3) No need for IAPs. You just need 2 tank generals, one for early clearing of cities fast enough to hold off USA & friends, and one for taking on Western Europe generals and units. One artillery general is doable too, so 3 in total.
