12. Escorting Increase 5/7/10(1grid)/15/20(2grid)/25(3grid) ship defence.
This is how make your ship like a German tank in this game. so much defence buff, this make your ship unrivaled in the sea and make D-Day happen anywhere.even land troop attack you , you wont hurt much. So really you want a navy gen. Get those will this skill+line of battle.
Good general have this skill:Nelson,Jervis,trevile,sakurako.

some skills are just too situational, then practical, a good ability is assault, edge, and salvo for every type of class, I would give it a S rating, as all of these abilities increase damage which is great.

13. precision strike, salvos, assault 5/7/10/15/20 additional damage when commanding cavalry/artillery/infantry to attack.
As what muller1942 correctly pointed out. Is always good to have some self buff on your gen so that he can hit harder. But that is one small flaw: it defeat the versatility of general. In ew4, that many good hybrid gen like lannes, pointawoski and other. But now the game is really limiting the use of gens by using this skills so your gen are only single focused for one type of unit. Even those who we called hybrid in this game is really because their high battle ability except Lee and Wellington. But this skill is still great. Good general that have this skill: so many that I can't show them all here so here are some examples:Murat, kutuzov,Karl

Escorting also buff the land unit when that unit comes on water. And Nelson can active this skill even when you deploy him into a land unit, only requirement is that unit must be on water. Every unit which is on water is considered Naval unit.

15. Battle arrays(inf)/explosive(art)/ maneuver(cavalry) 20/40/60/80/100% of ignoring the effect of trenches/bunker/barrier.
This skill imo is the most controversial skill in the series.why? Let's get to the pros and cons of this skill Pro: 1.in end game. These defence buff will make unit tougher and harder to skill(30% is a huge defence buff) so is good to have this skill evade this defence and kill this unit faster. 2. If you use normal unit to fight against the enemy unit that have these defences. Is pun in the a** to kill this unit. One example is Britain in 1806, where game expect you to launch a attack on asia minor or balkans with your mighty copy falsen and three highlander. And those enemy will stay at the defence for eternity. So you may want a gen with this gen in this situation. 3.OLD GUARD. Really? You want to fight old guard on defences when he already have 25% defence buff, which make him 55% buff on what defences they are on and if there is gen controlling this unit. Prepare for deadly battle.(unless you play as France ofc ) Cons: 1. This skill suck at beginning of the game or even in mid game as the defences bonuses are no that high. Which makes player never upgrade this skill untill endgame where player realise that this skill is quite important when they are having difficulty passing through the enemies with defences 2. Only some infantry unit build defence which make the apperaappe of defence in the map much lesser and make this skill a bit irrelevant. 3.one tile=one defence. That means if the enemies are on barrier. Just use infantry or artillery to kill this It which ignored the buff completely and this skill obsolete. So what is your opinion about this skill. I will give a B for now but pls give your opinion so that I can give a final rank for this skill. Good general that have this skill: Murat, Kutuzov,rRudolf.

15.land fort/defence formation/station Increase 12/14/16/18/20% attack when using artillery/infantry/cavalry dinghy in city facilities.
Well this skill is quite the opposite of the skill that I say before. This skill was badass at the start then decline towards to the end game. This is because at the beginning of game, those unit even with gens do not much damage to you so you can play defend your ground until you kill everyone around you, but in endgame even normal unit can deal an average damage to you and AI love to spam artillery to smash your gen to dust in endgame(eg. Siege in crimean war )lastly gen are always move forward to conquer not stuck in building forever. So overall a good skill in start of game and a little mediocre skill in end game.

Formula for damage reduction: damage dealt = 100/(armor+100) Escorting maximizes its use with army units in the sea, but no so much with battleships.

The skills that boost atk when in a facility is basically just urban warfare / street fighting. Unless you are really pressed to hold out in a city and risk sacrificing a gen, especially in endgame, this skill is not that useful.
Correct, gens should move as much as possible, not be stuck defending, unless you have few troops to spare to defend a target facility immediately under the threat of capture.
Best case scenario: You have a Davout on cav, an open enemy city and a lot of enemy troops right outside he city. Here, such a skill can be a B or A depending on the outcome (dmg Davout takes, how many enemy units are killed in relation to total number of troops in the province/region).

Formation master/ridding master/artillery master/postion Increase critical chance by 6/7/8/9/10% when commanding unit to attack. While critical is always good as it will give more damage to enemy unit so that you can clear mission or complete conquest faster. But it need raw damage to be high(like self buff like assult, aura buff or terrian skill(not as good as the two b4)(and both aura and terrian can't use on ship )) to fully use this skill correctly.

Edge(cavalry)/intercept(infantry) Increase attack on by 5/7/10/15/20 when cavalry attack infantry/infantry attack cavalry.
Yet another buff skill to increase this damage but this skill is for a specific role and specific target. And edge really go well with SA as AI in French side love to spam infantry. So your cavalry can move around clear any infantry in their way faster and take more city in conquest. Intercept on the other hand was also great as Calvary have low health, so they can hit them hard enough to make cavalry weak. Good gens have this skill:Karl,Padget,Murat, davout, gate.

Strangely enough, he isn't the most expense of the bunch. Maybe Easytech wants people to think Napoleon is the best, and since Napoleon is popular, more people would buy him.
