What could be a better combo would be mountain + jungle fighting, look at Radko Dimitriev's insane speed in Russian conquests. |

artillery is the best way to clear forts - very important to do in campaigns because forts can deal lots of damage to your units. plus storm fortification means arty deals more damage to city so it's the best arty skill. jungle fighting is not necessary because arty can cross mountains. if there are forests, there are usually mountains nearby so arty always have a route they can take. i have no mobility problems when i use arty anyway.

even if you don't think storm is the best arty skill, it's still one of the most useful, also having jungle fighting won't help much in terms of mobility if you already have mountain fighting. on most maps, there will be both forests and mountains.
optimal 3 arty generals are ivanov, hindenburg and beseler
best skill combination for each:
ivanov: storm, salvo, mountain, tactic master, artillery expert (mountain fighting medal or tactic)
beseler: storm, salvo, mountain, tactic master, artillery commander (+ artillery commander medal)
hindenburg: storm, salvo, mountain, tactic master, defence formation (mountain fighting medal or tactic)

Storm is an okay skill. You will have some fun with it. But citys and forts die super fast to high end artys anyway, so no need for a little bit more of special dmg.
I went for two terrain skills so that I always have my 25% dmg boost. To each target. If a gen could have 7 skills, then storm fort would be a nice to have.

trust me having storm fort is huge. pretty sure it gives 25 extra damage at lvl 5 if im not mistaken. it can add up a lot and very useful for when you want to take a city - need as much damage as you can to wipe out city health. also with forts at end game, they have like 500+ health so rather than needing to hit forts 4 or 5 times to clear, it would only take 3 etc. forts and cities are usually your first targets with arty anyway, so not having it is a bad choice.

Ivanov would be better if your artillery isn't doing it for you. |

I sort of pity buying Beseler...
He will be the best in Game if you give him Jungle fighting instead of Inspiration.
