Archduke CPrice: 8 Emblems Type of General: Infantry & Cavarly Hybrid Starting Movement: 3 hexes on all infantry except Machine Gunners, 2 hexes on machine gunners, 4 hexes on light and heavy cavarly, 3 hexes on horse grenadiers and armored cars. Archuke Charles is essentially Sakurako w/o Accurate. Other than an extra training stars, and better stars in some areas, Archduke Charles isn't much of an improvement. Why get an iap whose job a princess can do just fine. Not recommended.

PagetPrice: 6 Emblems Type of General: Cavarly Starting Movement: 4 hexes light cavarly and heavy cavarly, 3 hexes horse grenadiers and armored car. Paget is a slightly upgraded version of bennigsen, or in other words bennigsen with strike. While Paget is certainly not a bad general, other iaps for 6 emblems like Dabrowski or Murat are easily better options. Furthermore, Sulkowski is a good cavarly general to purchase with strike due to his price performance. They should have Gave him a star next to speed, would have help the mobility trait and added economic master.

Jervis Price: 8 EmblemsStarting Movement: 3 hexes on frigates, 2 hexes on battleships and ironclads. Jervis is the best navy general of the iap tier. Not even Nelson is stronger. But really, he only has 2 skills that help his navy side shine: steersmann and leadership. So you are buying a navy general with only 2 skills. His land side is awful as the skills he offers it is sailor and economic master, although he does possess leadership which is a pretty huge plus. Even though he possesses good trading stars, his economic side is pretty weak. If he had architecture rather than sailor, he would be hands down better than dearborn at being an economic hybrid. So even if he possesses leadership, he is still a pretty meh land unit hybrid, with leadership and nothing else. And Nelson costs the same price, yet is a phenomenal artillery general on land. Furthermore, Kate, who is free, is a navy general with 3 good skills. Poniatowski, who costs 6 emblems rather than 8, also has 3 skills on navy, one of which is leadership, and is miles better than Jervis on land. If he had better land skills, he could have been one of the better iaps. But as it stands now, he leaves a lot to be desired.

BarclayPrice: 6 Emblems Type of General: Land Hybrid Starting Movement: 3 hexes on all infantry except Machine Gunners, 2 hexes on machine gunners, 4 hexes on light and heavy cavarly, 3 hexes on horse grenadiers and armored cars. Ah... Barclay. Let me just say, I changed my mind. I gave this guy too much credit. On infantry, he has bugle only (as siege is bugle against cities, but bugle already works against cities ...). Are there not enough free generals who come with more that. If you want this guy, please purchase Eugene de Beauharnais, the guy also possesses some nice trading stars at least. Or Doblen who has mass fire and bugle, or oudinot who has formation and bugle. On other units, he is Ney minus Spy. No reason to consider him at all. Barclay is sadly, only an honorable mention on the worst iaps to purchase list. There are way more pathetic options sadly.

TrevillePrice: 6 Emblems Type of General: Navy Starting Movement: 4 hexes on frigates, 3 hexes on iron clads and battleships Treville is Sidney, after he has been regrouped once. But even Sidney is not that great as there are much better generals in the middle tier. Yeah, Treville is not recommended whatsover. One of the worst purchases you can make. Especially since Kate is easy to unlock who is him with fireproof.

At least this in game version has health and nobility.

Alexander I
Price: 6 Emblems Type of General: Infantry & Cavarly Hybrid Starting Movement: 2 hexes on grenadiers and guards, 3 hexes on horse grenadier guards, 2 hexes on siege artillery. Alexander I is literally just Arnold with more training stars. Arnold is a first tier, buisiness general with Spy, 5 training stars, and a business trainer. The only real notable disadvantage he has to alexander is that he does not have any movement stars (fixable with items). So you are getting an iap for a job that someone cheap for 500 medals can do. Not a good idea. While Alexander does have some nice potential due to his training stars, its better to get an iap for fortress destroying. His offensive ability is nonexistant and he is still very slow. Even if you put him on Horse Grenadiers, which is his starting strength, he will dissappoint in his output. Don't get him!

Desaix Price: 6 Emblems Type of General: Land Hybrid Starting Movement: 3 hexes on light infantry grenadiers and guards, 2 hexes on machine gunners, 4 hexes on light and heavy cavarly, 3 hexes on armored cars and horse grenadiers. 3 hexes on light artillery and rocket artillery. This guy is a Sakurako copy cat. But he didn't copy her entire homework, he kind of got bored after finishing copying the first half. Desaix is Sakurako with only 2 training stars instead of 4. So he takes a painful hit to his hybrid potential. Furthermore, he has one less movement which is very painful to fix as Diez is a notorius pain. The one less movement results in him being a hex slower on Heavy Artillery, Siege Artillery, Machine Gunners, Armored Cars, and Horse Grenadier Guards, all units which can compensate for a general's lack of mass fire or training stars due to their shear damage. Yeah, being worse on those is a massive hit. To continue, if you wanted a second sakurako, please, get Soult. He is not a good iap, but at least he is far better on his infantry side, and has better training stars on his artillery side. But even he is not recommended. Desaix is brown as even though he is red in quality, unlocking Sakurako is not that hard and she is a significant upgrade. Hence Desaix is would be a waste on 6 emblems, making him brown.

Alex I in EW4 is one of the weirdest generals that ET has ever designed. He's a flag bearing economic fort killer fort general. How does that even work?

Suchet Price: 8 EmblemsType of General: Infantry & Cavarly Hybrid, even though he can be an artillery hybrid, he has too few stars for that. Starting Movement: 3 hexes on grenadiers and guards, 4 hexes on horse grenadiers, 3 hexes on frigates, 2 hexes on battleship and ironclad.
Easytech like to underplay this guys accomplishments. On land, he only has spy. At sea, which is his strength, he has spy and fireproof. He has good well rounded stars but they don't exactly make up for his bad skill set. Savary has similar capabilities while being better on cavarly, although Suchet does have that very convenient 4th star in movement, making him more or less of a lamborgini on horse grenadiers. Murat is miles better on cavarly, although being a bit slower. So while Suchet does start out pretty strong, you have him at his max potential. He can't get any better aside from adding a 5th star on infantry and cavarly. Plus Siege Artillery still exists as a viable option for (strong) artillery generals without spy to destroy fortifications. When Suchet is not destroying fortifications, he has no skills to add output. He is just extremely weak. Yeah, this is a very bad iap.

Blucher
Price: Too much Type of General: Garbage (only Slightly redeemable on Infantry) Starting Movement: Garbage Ladies and Gentlemen, we have the worst iap purchase you can ever make. Yeah, this guy is not good. On cavarly, he is a slower Suchet without Spy. So you can only use him on heavy cavarly and light cavarly. Since he has no skills, he'll die quickly making him useless. The only other unit he can command is infantry. On infantry, he is Maria who we already get (and barely use). He is terrible at everything else. Why is he so bad? He is pretty good in ew5 and ew6. In this game, what happened. Ok, I am going to stop talking about him before I throw up. Now, I give Lassalle some much needed scolding from time to time, but with good reason. But compared to this guy, he doesn't seem all that bad. This guy is not only a terrible iap, but also absolutely terrible anytime you are given him in campaign or conquests. *Sighs*

Jackson Price: 6 Emblems Type of General: Infantry Starting Movement: 4 hexes light infantry, all other infantry types: 3 hexes. While Jackson is a significant upgrade from he who shall not be made (Blucher) he is still very much a useless iap. He does have nice movement, good training stars, logistics for saving food and not being demoralized when it runs out, 5 trading stars, defense art, and econ master. But all this meh overall as anyone with architecture plus an income item is miles better as a econ general. Kosuicsko is a significant upgrade if given some boots and the napoleonic code. While Jackson certainly isn't the worst iap, I dont see what this guy can offer that other generals can't.

CottonPrice: 6 Emblems Type of General: Cavarly Starting Movement: 3 hexes on horse grenadiers I forget this guy even existed. He is Sulkowski with an extra movement star. As he is an iap for 6 emblems, his cavarly trainer skill isn't as prized as Sulkowski's is, as Sulkowski is purchasable with medals. He is a decent general unlike Blucher, but a free general does everything he can be better.

Iaps are done! That will have to do it for now. Afterwards, I will probably do about 4 a week of the middle tier generals. Some of them are genuinely very good and deserve in depth analysis. Gotta go study for my exams. Cheers!

He actually looks pretty impressive in game because he's always on a double stacked Guard Cavalry (great) and you don't really have much to compare him if you don't know what you're doing. I don't think he's horrible when he's given to you for free simply because 5 star in cavalry is still serious damage and Guard Cavalry is great. He's a terrible buy though, that's for certain, but honestly most IAPs in EW4 are.
