You cannot breakthrough the enemy spam, or defend it from the Germans? I can retake those cities by turn 4-6. The problem is the time is not enough to kill the key gens. Petain also dont want to go, even when the NE city is taken, the dialogue says “general petain, lead those peaching armies”. I tried to leave the NE city, but the fort (which is a key point) will be destroyed, thus GG. I can much kill those german guys, but the enemy gens are sometimes not appearing in the level, which i guess theres a trigger.

Well guess we have to identify that trigger, and either prevent it or stave it off

are you guys playing history mode with max tech? Yup, though it is definitely not that much easier. At least we get full mobility and city busting strength

Getting punished for playing a core mechanic (maxing training) keeps me unmotivated to play any further. I realy hope that they will adjust this, although I doupt that tbh.

But not unfair like History Mode.

That’s signed as green (guide) but there isn’t ^^’ This one and the last history seams to be the hardest. Recently I bought and maxed (except skills changes) both Macmahon and Joffre so i will try.
Just a little tip that works in all the game modes for all your generals. Maybe many of you yet know that. If you exit from the game and change the items to your generals, when you reenter they will have that new items setup. So for very hard games, if you are very maniacal, you can give 2 attack (or sometime defense) items to your generals when yoi have to attack, exit, give them 2 heal items if needed, reenter, pass turn and doing that again and again....

A zero medpack strategy
Joffre on tank (maxed with edge, jungle, precision strike, mountain, surprise)
d'Urbal on guard cavalry
Guepratte on field Artillery (maxed with pierce, salvo, jungle)
Macmahon on old guard (maxed with assault, jungle, mountain, pierce, infantry master)
Esperey on first old guard spawned in northern city (maxed with assault, infantry commander, jungle) Probably not important as I forgot to deploy him the first time I got 3 stars.
The team: Put Joffre on tank. (He is the 5th strongest cav general. Also useful in conquest.) Put Macmahon on old guard. (He is my #2 inf general.) Put Guepratte on Howitzer. Put Esperey on Field art. (I wasted 45 books in changing him from inf general to art general, should have convert him to art general in the first place.)
Put d'Urbal on guard cavalry.
Max tech
Move all units, except Guepratte, towards northern city. Use promotion on Joffre and Macmahon in turn 1. Use march on Joffre, Esperey and d'Urbal in turn 2.
Move Guepratte towards the southern city to attack & kill the tank and von Below (armored car). Spawn a militia to protect Guepratte and defend southern city. Use all the 4 air bombings created on von Below when he's in range.
Retake northern city in turn 3. Put Iriana (-35% cost of infantry) in palace. I have tried with princesses Nikolayevna & Louise, and Iriana seems to be the best. Spawn an old guard on the first few turns to help guard the city and fort.
Keep the last enemy howitzer circled in yellow alive (it's out of range of Nivelle & the fort). Cripple but not kill it. Killing all enemy units from the first wave will trigger reinforcement in the north east. Not very important as I sometimes accidentally kill it. It's helpful to have less enemy units to deal with.
After turn 6, enemy will use gas around northern city. Move your generals away from the city if you don't want them get hit.
Killing enemy generals will trigger new enemy generals to appear.
Don't worry about the middle city. If you are lucky, your allies will retake it. If not, the city will be left unguarded at some point. Make sure you have one or two units within range to capture it. Concentrate on killing enemy generals.

That’s great! But i think i will try it using more medpacks and less textbook cause i’m lacking them. But it’s correct to say that this same generals are available for another history, so maybe invest textbook to at least joffre and macmahon is better. We can farm textbook with ads every day and sometime as reward for the easiest history ever (austro-prussia war). While medpacks are still farmable and costs less medals in the shop, but I don’t know if there is an history to farm them (and ofc isn’t that easy as A-P) and they aren’t for ever. Maybe the best economical strategy is to do a mix. Many textbook invested and some medpacks (40? 80?) to don’t waste other 60 textbooks

@luffy there isn’t a guide for the battle of Isonzo history yet and I never tried it. It’s easy? Which generals are needed to complete?

@luffy there isn’t a guide for the battle of Isonzo history yet and I never tried it. It’s easy? Which generals are needed to complete? Isonzo is relatively easy so probably no one bother to write a guide. I used Garibaldi (maxed, original skills) on HMG, Cardorna (maxed?, original skills) on breastplate, Aosta (maxed, added tactic master & pierce) on field artillery, Mombelli (provided) on light artillery and Acton (non-upgraded, original skills) on destroyer. The key is to use lots of air bombings and destroyers to kill enemy generals and crack open cities.
