Having found myself c200 literature short of being ready to upgrade to Discovery Age and wishing I'd built Cairo sooner, it occurred to me that it makes sense to rethink the order in which princesses are prioritised based on their daily rewards. I don't know if a single optimal strategy exists and life's too short to try and find out, and of course we're limited to a degree by the order in which the cities become available, but wherever there's a choice to be made over which city to build or princess to woo first then it absolutely makes sense to prioritise based on medals first, then literature second. I'd say diamond next, then ivory, china, gold, perfume, & pearl (based on nothing more than intuition!). Of course we must still bear in mind their contributions to the actual game-play so daily rewards is certainly not the only consideration, but I'd definitely put medals & literature above all else. Anyway, here's the full list and I've added a separate tab for them to this spreadsheet.Maria 10000 Gold Jenny 20 Pearl Elizabeth 20 Perfume Isabella 20 Medal Sophia 20 China Julia 20 Ivory Kate 20 Diamond Anna 20 Artwork Fatima 30000 Gold Nefertari 10 Literature Ayla 30 Pearl Indira 30 Perfume Li 30 China Young-hee 30 Ivory Borte 30 Medal Shizuka 30 Diamond Xochitl 30 Artwork Oclio 20 Literature Edit: a visual presentation can be found here Princess Gallery

I think that unlocking princesses is a top priority for any new player. It is such a great help: ivory, art work and above all literature were so difficult find in EW5. Unlocked Princesses can speed up the overall progress quite significantly.

Unlocked Princesses can speed up the overall progress quite significantly. Agreed, I'm definitely progressing faster on this run due to the extra rewards. I missed artwork off my list: I'd probably put them after ivory as you need that more at the beginning, but that's open to debate.

I don't remember ever running out of resources before, but now, I'm scrounging up sources of Diamonds, Artworks and yes, even Ivory.
These Princesses and their Daily login bonuses really helped out a lot.
IMO, for a player who is planning on having a moderate play time of 1-2h per day and has just started a new game, these are more important:
- Gold. Needed for a lot of functions from upgrading to the next age, to building palaces to woo princesses as well as taverns to hire gens, to hiring gens in Lyon and equipment in Cologne.
- Medals. Needed to hire the better and more expensive gens, upgrade your gens, upgrade your gens' skills and buy certain high quality equipment.
- Literature. To prepare for the Literature grind later on.
- Diamonds and Artwork. Some of the oddly more rare items.
- Ivory? The next option players turn to when you run out of the above two materials and cannot rely on your Perfume and Pearl cache.

Maria is either from Paris or London. Most likely Paris, given her flag.
Assuming that the material that has a red heart with a golden star icon is the person's preferred material,
Generals:
Saladin - 12 Diamonds. Barbarossa - 8 Ivory.
Lincoln - 15 Artwork.
Princesses:
Nefertari - 10 Pearls. Anna - 8 Ivory. Ayla - 10 Diamonds. Sophia - 5 Perfume Kate - 8 China Indira - 12 Artwork Fatimah - 10 China Borte - 15 Diamonds Ocllo - 20 Diamonds Xochitl - 20 Diamonds
These are the few who I am courting right now.

I put gold as a lower priority just because you get Maria straightaway and I haven't had to think about gold too much this time, but I can see that it could make sense to go for Fatimah sooner rather than later.

Right now, I'm somewhat caught in the Literature grind. So a mistake made was to go for Ayla ASAP instead of waiting for Indira.
1. Indira is the best income princess, with her 125% income bonus. 2. Plus, seeing as how there are 100+ Pearls in my inventory, as compared to Perfume which is at most 60 and can get depleted easily, it's clear that I had made a strategic mistake. 3. Thirdly, seeing as how both would not be joining me for some time, it would have been better to save and wait longer for someone more worth it (Indira).
Beyond the Indira VS Ayla mistake, I too had prioritised Nefertari a little too late.
I'm just about 80 Literature short and have exhausted ways for farming or earning resources in Empire outside of Daily Missions.

Oclio > Indira, and I think Kate is a good one to go for too as you need a lot of diamonds to build the last few princess cities. Ayla's not too an expensive mistake as at least you're not wasting diamonds building her city, and you can farm the expended gold in Kiev or Carthage - I'm not saying I recommend it but it is an option. Currently I have Maria, Jenny, Elizabeth, Isabela, Sophia, Julia, Kate, Anna, Fatima, Nefertari, Ayla and I'm wooing Borte, Oclio, Shizuka & Indira. I'll go for Xochitl next, then Young-hee & Li. P.S. I just picked up 30 lit in Cantar de Mio Cid - Carolingian Empire 5

Iron Duke, I think a reference to cities where these nice ladies dwell would be useful as well.

Iron Duke , I think a reference to cities where these nice ladies dwell would be useful as well. They're listed in the spreadsheet linked in the OP but I took them off when pasting into here as it looks... untidy: Princess City Reward Amount Maria ? Gold 10000 Jenny Berlin Pearl 20 Elizabeth Dublin Perfume 20 Isabella Madrid Medal 20 Sophia Moscow China 20 Julia Rome Ivory 20 Kate Washington Diamond 20 Anna Athens Artwork 20 Fatima Baghdad Gold 30000 Nefertari Cairo Literature 10 Ayla Constantinople Pearl 30 Indira Delhi Perfume 30 Li Nanking China 30 Young-hee Seoul Ivory 30 Borte Karakorum Medal 30 Shizuka Tokyo Diamond 30 Xochitl Tenochtitlan Artwork 30 Oclio Cuzco Literature 20 Oh and don't forget about this wonderful resource linkI just found 50 more lit in Nordic Heroes as well btw Nobunaga Oda

I don't know how much the 30 pearls, perfume, china, and ivory princesses matter since by mid Discovery-ish, basically nothing will cost those resources anymore. Though Young-Hee is still pretty awesome since her in game bonus is extremely useful.

Yeah I'm just about to upgrade to Discovery and I've got hundreds of those already; I'm only struggling for diamonds and artwork.
