Hello all. I got a question about the beginner team. Someone asked me about the beginner team on some other website. He said that he should get a team of generals for the beginning of the game. So I decided to come to the Great EFC to ask this question
He said this is should your team:
I rebuttaled his claim which it will be at the end of each team recommendation
1. Tito: He has a bad reputation as an infantry boss but at only 325M he serves well as Artillery commander especially with his mobility.
Rebuttal: Infantry gets wrecked immediately. What if you are playing as a country that doesn't have commandos? I put him on a commando for Finland 1939, he was murdered by Rokossvsky and Zhukov in ONE TURN! He has no arty skills. I tried him on an arty once and he absolutely sucked. Got wrecked by Rommel in Allied Mission 8 Europe in one turn.
2: Crerar: He gets dissed also for infantry or armor but at 375M you can use him as a Navy cmdr especially since Crowd Tactics is good on every occasion.
Rebuttal: Crerar is a meh naval commander but he won't be as useful as Messe and he is good infantry gen but he doesn't have guerilla which makes him die faster. Crowd tactics are useful like you said but it can't be used for navy. Wolfpack is the naval version of crowd tactics. He is a good invasion general though. He is also a good support gen but you shouldn't get him as your first gen. He is a cheaper option to Timoshenko
3: Bagramyan: He is only 635M not only does he have potential in almost every command type but he starts out with 2 stars in Air Force - put him in a city with airport adds his stars to airport attacks. So he can be sitting in a tank inside the city to boost air damage. Really good at coastal air vs navy.
Rebuttal: Bagramyan is also bad because since he has potential in every single ability. That means that he will be bad in every single ability because he needs to spread his perks around to all those units if you want him to be good. And if has two stars, it is not potential. Two stars in Air Force aren't much. And two stars in Air Force might be really good against subs and destroyers, you wouldn't really be good against cruisers and aircraft carriers. Also, Bagramyan is supposed to be a tank gen and he really isn't supposed to sit his fat *Auto corrected* in a city but he is supposed to be fighting. Sure, he could be healing but Bagramyan should be sitting in a faraway city out of your enemy's air range because the enemy will frequently bomb/strafe your general that is healing in a city in between turns.
4. Heinrici: He costs 855M and has Rumor like Messe so he'll make a good second armor general.
Rebuttal: Heinrici isn't really good at anything. Unless you change camouflage into guerilla, he can be a pretty good infantry gen with infantry leader and rumor. Without guerilla warfare this infantry general is horrible. His movement and rumor suggest he is a support rumor general like Arnold, but his lack of guerilla warfare ensures his quick death. Unless Easytech introduces a new infantry sniper unit that can attack from 2 hexagons away, he is too horrible to be even considered. HOWEVER, he is an ok artillery gen because he has rumor and camouflage and he is probably the only salvation for him. (Quoted some stuff from the Heinrici discussion posted by Bing)
Messe: Messe is w/o ? awesomeness from any POV. But having cheaper generals for every occasion will pay off in the long-term.
Rebuttal: Messe is good because he is the best general for beginners. He only costs 550 medals. He can make your life in the game easier until you can get Guderian or some other tank gen to replace him. He can also be a good support/frontline attacking general because he has crowd tactics. He also has rumor and armored assault for only 550 medals. He also can be a decent naval gen with rumor. He can be useful even for 1980 if you max him. However, most players ditch him and give him a farewell after 1950.
Please. Correct that guy or me if I am wrong. Feel free.
