Yes but the Soviets had many things the Italians did not, virtually endless amounts of men, dogs with land mines ect. The Italians had a weak industrial base, small amounts of soldiers and basically the worst tanks in the war. I agree on that though. And I thought the Soviets were worse

Another great gen was Bernard Montgomery (not really). He was like a Rommel with none of the finesse or flair.

For one thing, his pessimism of the war in general (get it, in General) and also the most brilliant loss of the war, perhaps of all time. Read up on Iwo Jima, and it is just astounding how good his strategy was. I feel that allied generals were not as competent as of their axis counterparts because they had the industrial might of their country. Exception - Zhukov. What about Rzhev?

I just searched and found the battle of Rzhev. Are you talking about that? Yes, the Rzhev Meat Grinder where Model obliterated the Soviets, earning him the name “Hitler’s Fireman.”

Another great gen was Bernard Montgomery (not really). He was like a Rommel with none of the finesse or flair. Dwight Eisenhower claimed after the war that Monty was a "psychopath". Monty was smart but erratic and tended to be way to aggressive at the worst possible times. A B-Tec Patton.

Oh, and that reminds me! how have we not discussed Eisenhower and Patton yet? Pretty major omission right there!

My vote go's to von Manstein for his capture of the crimean peninsula. That was one of the most brilliant maneuvers of the war, the siege of Sevastopol. To be honest, the members of Sevastopol were braver than those in Leningrad.

Oh, and that reminds me! how have we not discussed Eisenhower and Patton yet? Pretty major omission right there! Allied generals have actually did not show any serious talent in warfare. Exception is Zhukov. Except an incident where Patton rescued his son in law and many others from a concentration camp, many kms into the enemy territory
