I’m stuck at beginning of eastern front 1941 and was thinking about one of these gens for my next
I have 1200 medals
Besides free gens I have Guderian and Leeb

Monty is valuable overall because he can be used to farm Medals in Western Front 1939, North Africa 1940 and Western Front 1944. Plus, his speed and air force *s are not to be overlooked. Mechanist is useful when you can heal after a long march. Ace Forces is not useful unless gaining more Chevrons rapidly improves your unit's performance.
Vatutin is the better dmg dealer of the two. Desperate turns him into a defensive Rumour gen, but this would be significant for field engagements in which the enemy is not destroyed swiftly.

Monty is better than Vatutin only when you need his speed (mostly in Campaign). Otherwise Vatutin is better.
