Geography (only cav/ art) is great for the beginning and extremly good for mission generals. I don't rate geography so high for headquarter generals at least without engeneerig- and the missing movement is really a pain for an IAP. AA is nice to have, but has no real strategic usage as it is so unreliable.. For me Lannes is fantastic as mission commander, but not a good investment as IAP. Movement is not a big deal, especially with my newest farm- the Waterloo RR farm. Getting refreshes for Diez is a breeze. Medal farming is a bit painful though, would love some suggestions on better farms than trafalgarAlso, movement items exist. I can and I will buy them for Lannes. I will regroup as much as it takes to hypermax him. Assault Art is still a nice skill without S&L. But you don't need Assault art all the time. When I do need it, I will S&L. Summary: Lannes good

I don't mind Geography on him if I'm playing him on cav (One less commander that wants War Horse) but not having Strike hamstrings him. He's not the worst medal sink among IAPs (Poniatowski exists, for example) but I do think he's very flashy but needs a lot of work to compete with someone like Lan or Victoria.
For the same price or even cheaper I'll just take LaSalle for Cav or Wellesley for Inf
