Hey guys, I will rank all of the generals as with previous games. This list will slightly change once the new update comes out. Also, I have learned my lesson with the Glory of Generals 3 skills guide. Don't pin my thread yet, its not even close to being done! Furthermore, I will keep the short summaries here for every general to those who are lazy to read or click on the links to them, but the links will also contain much more detailed summary of the general, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses. As always Pink = Excellent Turquoise (light blue) = Great (Very good but very expensive to boot/ there are superior options) Green = Above Average (there are better ones but passable. Can buy for entertainment purposes) Yellow = Average, have some good qualities when given in a campaign, but not worth purchasing Orange = Below Average. Generally bad generals Red = Terrible. Very bad generals Brown = One of the worst generals in the game Iaps
Manstein (Excellent) Eisenhower (Great)Zhukov (Excellent) Axis Guderian (Excellent) - If you don’t have Manstein, (Great) if you do Rommel (Excellent) Rundstedt (Great)
Donitz (Excellent)
Leeb (Excellent) Yamashita (Excellent)Kesselring (Excellent) Yamamoto (Great)Mannerheim (Average)
Nagumo (Above Average)
Ushijima (Below Average)
Badoglio (Great)Hoth (Below Average)Terauchi (Terrible)Graziani (Average) Kuribiyashi (Great)Model (Above Average) Yamaguchi (Average)Student (Great) Heinrici (Below Average)Ozawa (Great) Riccardi - A free naval general that has good stars and skills. But you get him too late for him to be too useful. Still a very good free general.
Messe - Kind of sucks but he is free so that makes up for it. Use Bock instead. Bock - mediocre artillery general but a get panzer leader. Bock can take damage, replenish units for extremely cheap, and continue fighting. A solid free general that will get the job done till guderian. Raider - You already get Ozawa and Riccardi for free. You don't need him, even if he is a great price performer. Kleist - Ok survivability, but terrible output. Don't bother. Brauchitsch - a mediocre defensive artillery general. Don't bother, just save up for Badoglio. Kuchler - vomits. Terrible skills and stars to complement. This guy sucks. List - A great and easy to use tank general. Awesome. Weichs - Hybrid version of List that is good on infantry but worse on tanks. You choose who is better. Keitel - A solid artillery general for cheap that can defend cities well. Not a bad choice. Nenonen - An arguably better artillery general than Keitel, up to you what you prefer, snow fighting vs urban warfare. Allies Patton (Excellent)Marcarthur (Excellent) Montgomery (Great)
De Gaulle (One of the worst generals in the game)
Govorov (Excellent)Rokossovsky (Above Average)Nimitz (Excellent) Vasilevsky (Above Average)Dowding (Great) Mountbatten (Average)
Konev (Below Average) Vatutin (Excellent)
Bradley (Above Average)Clark (One of the Worst Generals in the Game!)Slim (Great)Tassigny (Great)Alexander (Above Average) Halsey (Great) Chuikov (Excellent)Leclerc (Above Average)
Devers (Average)Timoshenko (Great)Arnold (Average) Cunningham (Above Average)Malinovsky - 4.5 infantry stars anywhere on land, 5.5 infantry stars in city. If you could get him and then trade him in for someone else, he would be great. However, as a purchase is permanent, he will decline in quality by end game. I unfortunately cannot recommend him as even if he is a good price performer, you are better off saving the medals for someone else. Voronov - A good not great artillery general, but you really don't need him. Simonds - Alexander that costs money, but significantly more than Alexander late game. But I would purchase Govorov over him and since you already have 2 free artillery generals, despite Simonds being great you really don’t need him. Gamelin - Well if you need money during a mission, this guy can generate quite a bit. But don't expect anything else. Spraunce - A very overpowered naval general with 5.5 navy stars of output at sea, potentially 8.5 with a buff from Nimitz. Op.

Going to have to disagree on Leeb. He should be pink because he hits like a freight train. He is just pure damage: 4 artillery stars, fire focus, accuracy, and artillery leader.

Badoglio is still better for an Axis Arty, having used Leeb on first playthrough and Badoglio in this one. However, he should be blue.

Also, I have learned my lesson with the Glory of Generals 3 skills guide. Don't pin my thread yet, its not even close to being done! As always Pink = Very Good Turquoise (light blue) = Great (Very good but very expensive to boot/ there are superior options) Green = Good (there are better ones but passable. Can buy for entertainment purposes) Yellow = have some good qualities when given in a campaign, but not worth purchasing Orange = Generally bad generals Red = very bad, the worst of the worst generals given. Iaps Manstein - Best tank general in the game, usable on both sides, and since there are very few competent tankers in the game, he is a must buy (if you are willing to spend money that is). Zhukov - The best artillery general in the game! But even if he is godly, there are actually quite a few artillery generals that are ridiculously good, so he is not necessary. Purple in quality, green for replicability, blue average. Eisenhower - Honestly, an average infantry general. Only thing he brings to the table is his aura and stars. His output is ok but not great, his navy and air abilities are mediocre as well. You don't need him. Trust me. Axis Guderian - when has he ever been bad in an easytech game. Blitzkrieg reduces a lot of damage dealt, tide of iron allows him to essentially be a 6.5 star general, and anti armor is also an extremely useful skill to destroy tanks. His output is really high. Get him, get him, get him. Rommel - second best axis tank general. Get him after Guderian, he is really good too. Also, the best general on heavy tanks! Rundstedt - despite horrible speed, he is an amazing infantry general that rewards you for attacking. You will heal instead of take damage on the offensive, and when he does attack, he'll barely take damage. Also, this guy in a bunker can wreck, I have seen his infantry leader skill trigger 4 times consecutively. Donitz - the best naval general in the game. Has aura for improving the attack of surrounding ships, torpedo expert for massive output, and warning for reducing damage received significantly. If you don't have iaps, get Donitz. Otherwise, Nagumo is a better pick.
Leeb - a very strong artillery general, but honestly Badoglio is him without silver artillery leader. And since artillery leader lvl 1 vs economics maxed out, I like Badoglio more. Sorry Leeb. And he is slow. Leeb looks shiny, and he is good, but he is not amazing. Yamashita - fast, strong, and very helpful during pacific war where the land battles are the most rage inducing. Get him! Kesselring - best land air general in the game, has good movement and can fight well as a paratrooper. Awesome. Yamamoto - best naval air general, and has highest output of any air general when attacking cities. He is a tad bit worse than Kesselring as he has no land ability whatsoever. If you are willing to sacrifice that, go for it. Otherwise, get Kesselring. Mannerheim - has good stars, but his skillset is below average. His skills do work well together, but won't be useful too often. I mean, if he attacks an infantry special unit, he'll do massive damage. But how often is that going to happen. Otherwise, mediocre. Nagumo - great axis naval general. Only really inferior to Donitz. But unless you have iaps, you don't need him. Ushijima - good stars but literally all of his skills are useless. Absolute garbage.
Badoglio - great perks and you can use him to skyrocket your economy. Since there are always conveniently placed artillery units in missions, badoglio has will be a fantastic first general to purchase! Hoth - Not as bad as Ushijima, but only has Armored Assualt as a useful skill. Meh ... Axis ... Coming soon Are you going to do it with the format of your EW4 review, with the individual reviews and images.

Yeah, also disagree about Leeb vs Badoglio. First, 3* vs 4* and important skill. Second, Economics is useless. Just absolute garbage. It should provide at least twice as much in order to be viable. For now, it's almost nothing. Moreover normally You can't afford keeping arty which is very important on the battlefield inside the city. And yes, he has 1* additional movement but if You plan to utilize Economics.. who cares? Would be OK with air gen, not a battlefield gen.

Badoglio is still better for an Axis Arty, having used Leeb on first playthrough and Badoglio in this one. However, he should be blue. How? Leeb outperforms Badoglio in almost every way. Badoglio only has economics and better mobility. Leeb is going to be your 1st axis artillery gen and if you want a second artillery, your only choice is Badoglio. Badoglio is still good, but there is no way that he is better than Leeb.

Going to have to disagree on Leeb. He should be pink because he hits like a freight train. He is just pure damage: 4 artillery stars, fire focus, accuracy, and artillery leader. Still 6 gold. That makes a massive difference if you have no money. I mean if you think about it, all he loses to leeb is 12% chance to attack again and an artillery star. Perhaps I should have made Leeb blue though. Govorov is also not getting the pink, he is getting the blue.

Leeb is curved to Blue. He ain’t pink tho as he is equal to badoglio, and worse than guderian.
Govorov will also not be pink because there are so many allied artillery leaders

Economy is a good skill, but it's not equal to a artillery leader and a stronger accuracy. I'll argue that Govorov deserves pink because he is almost the same as Leeb, especially since he hits really hard as well. There are no non-IAP substitutes for these two.
