I posted this earlier in my own rework thread, but I feel like I'll get more discussion in a new thread. Is anyone interested in ideas for a rework of the other Army Groups? While I do have some, but less, ideas for North African 1942, I don't have a lot for Eastern 1941. Goes to show that easytech did a really good job with this mode. Here are the basic bare-bones ideas I have so far (these are subject to change):
Eastern 1941
- Rework a little bit of special forces and generals
- Rearrangement of borders for the following: German South, Slovakia, Romania, Soviet Second, Soviet Third, Soviet Fourth
North African 1942
- Drastic map changes that take out the "North" from "African"
- Adding and removing army groups
- Heavy rework of generals
- Rework all Greek Special Forces

Why do you need those map changes? I am perfectly fine with North Africa (although if they did add a Vichy/Operation Torch Mechanism, I would be overjoyed). After looking at it some more, while Western 1939 is lacking in gameplay balance, North African 1942 is lacking in historical accuracy. The entire situation in the west really bugs me because we have whole army groups that are not historically accurate. All of the territory belonging to the French Army Groups was under neutral Vichy France in real life. The Free French never controlled them until Operation Torch. Although I will take balanced gameplay over historical accuracy, I believe I have found two ways to maintain gameplay balance while making it more historically accurate. This will involve drastic map changes. The ways just differ in how drastic the map changes. |

Hmmm. . . two votes for North African and zero for Eastern. Maybe it's too early to tell, but do you all hate North African that much?

Maybe I went a little overbroad with my brainstorming. I kind of combined my two main ideas into one. Mainland Italy and Greece are not shown because they will be staying the same as they currently are.  |

I wanted to include Italian East Africa, so I had to put British Sudan in as well. I also wanted a Free French Army Group that historically controlled territory on their own and not through help from foreign powers like the US in Operation Torch. |

Splitting up countries is an important part of army group mode and I'm not changing that. Plus, it makes fighting on multiple fronts more manageable for the AI. |
