The WC series really isn't good at all for beginners. 1. Paraspam that creates a wall you have to smash through, only to get replaced by more paraspam. 2. Your troops start at level 0 and leveling is expensive. 3. Medals are super hard to obtain. 4. Campaigns are impossible. 5. Auto is extremely stupid and suicides your generals/wastes money. 6. Conquest AI favors your enemy. (As in every ET game)

Also, it is designed that way to make more challenge to the player and making the player the "decider" of the war. On point 2, I kinda begun farming resources from missions. Energy and industry wonders are too sluggish for me. On point 3, I built medal wonders, but even the medal wonders are sluggish. However, I noticed that I gain medals more than I must gain in 6 hours. On point 5, there are some conquests that you can leave on auto-mode, but yes, this feature is almost as good as nothing. As the time goes on, you can enhance your experience in the WC series.

On 1939 ROC: It's actually not a hard conquest, but you have to know how WC3 conquests work very well to win comfortably. Europe is almost always the key to victory, especially so in WW2 conquests. Beginners don't have that in mind so they will focus only on Japan during the early stage and let Germany conquer Europe to acquire an enormous source of income. easytech adjusts the strength of our enemies and allies by adjusting their tax rate. Huge economic base + high tax rate + airports = paraspam. However, since we now know how it works, we can tackle it by sending fast units (MI, AC, Li, Peng, Sun) to Europe right away for a stronghold (my personal favorite is Bucharest) where we can build troops to defeat Germany. Japan is at our front gate and they have barely any territory to conquer other than us. A successful defense is sufficient to choke Japan slowly to death. You have Xue and Bai, two excellent generals to fend off the incoming Japanese generals without having to divert too much money from the European theater. This is the one of the few conquests which I find bunkers particularly useful. They served me well in encircling Kuribayashi at the shore (and turning him into Bai's punching bag) and preventing Umezu from landing.

I usually send Du, and all of the Communist generals to Europe, as Li is remarkable at defense, and jungles are more populous in Asia, making it easier to play Sun.

Conquest AI favors your enemy. (As in every ET game) things are always challenging. The levelling is not expensive. Upgrade your infantry, artillery, and tanks to lvl 3, and then save up for lvl 18. After that, use all your resources for your air force and you will get PMI, one of the most reliable units in the game. Paraspam is solved by nipping the enemy powers across the map in the bud. This is why UK 1950, and India 1943 are so favourable, with territories on both sides of the world, or in the middle of the map. Campaigns are not impossible. Several guides have been made for it. The only ones you should have trouble with, is Allies 7, and 8 in WW2. Cold War, the only hard ones are Sea Road and Time Of Glory. You don't need very many generals to excel in the game. I got through late WW2 and early Cold war with just Badoglio. I grew up on WC3, and I was raised thinking that auto was stupid anyway. I still don't use auto in other games. As for conquest, yes it will overall favour your enemy, but there is usually one faction that is aggressive, and one that is defensive. Usually the one with less land. so, Axis 1939, Allies 1943, NATO 1950, and with 1960 having two equally exploitable and aggressive factions.

And Hsueh Yueh, WC4 is much more harder than this one

And Hsueh Yueh , WC4 is much more harder than this one not really. WC3 levelling doesn't really matter except for air force. WC4's skills matter immediately. Cities are harder to crack in WC4, and it does not necessarily encourage the aggressive playstyle like in WC3. The only difference is that WC4 is more detailed on skill levels, and the removal of bordergore.

They are always hard to 'crack cities' - a skill I don't have.

STILETT0, regarding my ranking of alien conquests, I don't know if I am to base the difficulty in the perspective of a beginner-1939 player or in the perspective of a player who read the guide on playing against aliens or a person who has at least Govorov, Guderian and Patton as their generals.

Aliens are not something you should really mess around with, and players who have tried a couple conquests against them should know that.

STILETT0 and I agreed that I am the one who will assess the difficulty of 1975 conquests. Alien conquests are entirely different from human conquests. The aliens have a different set of AI behavior, and your allies have become more stupid. They will only spam fort units and paratroopers. There are no nukes and missiles coming from the enemy unlike the 1950/1960 conquests, but all aliens are tough and deadly. Therefore, even the magenta-rated countries in 1975 may be hard for players who just mastered the other conquests. It is important to read this guide about alien AI behavior, improve your technology, and get the best generals like Govorov, Patton and Guderian to make the conquest easier and more clear. Also, follow this path guide as the generals there are what I used in alien conquests. Since the WC3 1.3.0 update, the progress in-game is much faster due to Sansonetti and the early influx of medals. Therefore, it is easy to get the Triumvirate Generals (Guderian, Govorov, Patton) much earlier and build artillery ECs. I find it more helpful to build artillery ECs than hire artillery generals like Konev or Bai because Konev and Bai lack the Explosive skill. In assessing each country, I have five criteria but no numerical assignment since it is hard to quantify everything especially in a random world: Economy: How much your country gather gold, iron, and oil per round? Base Army: Do you have super tanks, rocket artillery and field artillery at the start of the conquest? Can I deploy Guderian and Patton on super tanks to defend or to swiftly occupy cities? Facility: Can your facilities at least produce rocket artillery units? Proximity to Cities: How far is the next key city to improve your production of units, and possibly start the production of missiles and nukes? Danger Levels: Is one of your cities immediately under fire from an alien fortress? Is it likely that your country will be prioritized to be crushed by the aliens? The minimum technology required to win at least once in every difficulty is listed below, assuming you have the Triumvirate Generals, Sansonetti, two other artillery generals, and another general (possibly either Rommel, Vasilevsky, or a tank EC): - Infantry Level ≥5: Motorized infantry must pack some punch to play tag with the aliens. Upgrade to much higher level when motorized infantry is the only unit you can spam to proceed in a conquest (India, Saudi Arabia).
- Artillery Level ≥5: I have beaten Egypt 1975 in 111 turns with only this level of artillery technology. This is the bare minimum technology, but please upgrade unless you want to challenge yourself.
- Panzer Level ≥5: Powerful enough to conquer empty cities but not enough to make Guderian and Patton last against a horde of aliens. However, there are conquests where great tank play is the only way to proceed. Since the materials for tank tech is much easier to farm, try levelling this to 10.
- Fortifications Level 0: You do not want to upgrade this, ever. Coastal artillery is strong enough in other conquest years to crack cities. However, it, along with bunkers and land forts serve as a wall to protect cities incapable of producing field artilleries for their own defense such as Novosibirsk, Lhasa and Dihua.
- Navy Level 5: Navy will only crack far flung cities like Brisbane and Rio de Janeiro, or tanking damage in Japan 1975. It has no other purpose.
- Airforce Level 6 or 7 (strictly): I don't recommend having para-commandos if you are a beginner in alien conquests. Para-motorized infantry works best. Only upgrade this to a higher level when Infantry gains mobility perks from levels 13-16.
- Supply Level ≥2: For faster recuperation of your generals.
- Air Defense Level 0: Its only job is to lower the air defense of cities you have captured but still has a threat of being retaken by the aliens so that you can have the option of strafing it or nuking the alien to oblivion much easier.
- Missiles Level ≥4: It would be more convenient if it was higher, but Level 4 is good enough.
- Nuclear Bombs Level ≥2: As a 2-star or 3-star country, being capable of producing hydrogen bombs is useful since you can store more nukes, but as Egypt, I always find my nuclear stockpile empty.
- Ion Cannon Laser Level 0: No, you don't need it. It's too expensive to upgrade it to the levels of a nuclear bomb.
Three StarsSoviet Union: Let the aliens feel the overwhelming manpower of the Soviet Union! You have decent economy, two level III factories, a strong base army (two super tanks and two rocket artilleries), and you can conquer as many as city as you can while mostly getting ignored by the aliens! Deploy Patton in the super tank at Konigsberg to crack Copenhagen. Deploy Guderian in the super tank at Novosibirsk to liberate Yekaterinburg, then lead him to Kiev. I do not recommend sending him alone to Chongqing. Put all your artillery generals on rocket artilleries. Once you have liberated Europe, it will be a very long road to Brisbane and Bogota. I recommend Soviet Union 1975 to hone your anti-alien skills.
USA: You definitely need a high tank technology, because you have to deploy Patton on the super tank at Washington, D.C. Capture Toronto and start spamming rocket artilleries to destroy the nearby alien fortress.
China: You definitely need a high tank technology, because you have to deploy Patton and Guderian on the two super tanks that you have. Changchun, the only city you have in the beginning that can produce rocket artilleries, is under fire from an alien fortress. Patton and Guderian must team up to capture Wuhan and Chongqing fast so that you can start spamming rocket artilleries and maybe produce a nuke or two.
Two StarsUnited Kingdom: Your economy is a bit worse compared to all two-star nations, but your biggest advantage as UK is that the aliens will ignore you like how they ignore the Soviet Union. Spam rocket artilleries, liberate Great Britain, and slowly work through Europe and the rest of the world.
Italy: In the west, you have Spain, Germany, and France covering you. In the east, you have Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Sofia is an open city. Use the precious time they will give you to conquer as many unguarded cities as you can before the last of the nations aforementioned fall to the aliens.
Germany: You have two super tanks, one rocket artillery and one field artillery from the start. Make sure that your tank technology is at a high level, because level 5 won’t cut it for Patton and Guderian for the defense of Berlin. Deploy Patton on the super tank NOT in Berlin and then relocate him to Berlin to serve as a defense. Deploy Guderian on the level 6 super tank. Cologne will be the city to produce your rocket artilleries that will defend the perimeter of Germany.
France: France has best per-turn gold output from the start, has Lyon, and all of its three cities is capable of producing rocket artilleries. Zurich is already free to be taken, so you could consider deploying Patton in a super tank on Milan to speed up this process (at your own risk). However, after Spain and Germany quickly falls, the aliens will come in huge waves. You definitely need to upgrade your tank and artillery tech for this conquest.
Brazil: The way from Fortaleza to any important cities is very treacherous. Bogota is blocking you on the north. Quickly conquer Dakar, then conquer Iberia so that you can start your way to Europe and North America.
Australia: This is God's punishment to Australia for being too tedious to conquer in 1939. Pray that you reach the Philippines and East Asia quickly.
One StarEgypt: It is possible to liberate the entire world as Egypt in 111 turns with only level 5 artillery technology. Egypt has the largest per-turn gold output of all one-star countries. Egypt is also the safest, because Africa is mostly empty, numerous allies surround you, and alien AI will not attack you until much later. Put Govorov, your two other artillery ECs, Guderian, Patton, and another general only in rocket artilleries. Send all rocket artilleries to the Middle East save for Guderian and a handful of artilleries to serve as a defense. Your first targets are Baghdad, Tehran, and Ankara. From turns 20 to 40, you will receive waves after waves of aliens around the world. Continue producing rocket artilleries for offense and field artilleries to defend. From turn 40 onwards, you are left with aliens occasionally attacking India and the Middle East, while you tediously liberate all cities of the world. All aliens will soon stop actively pursuing you by turn 80.
Japan: Play Japan if you still have low artillery tech but high tank tech. You are under fire from an alien fortress from the start. Deploy Patton in a super tank and Govorov in a field artillery. The proximity of Osaka, Yokohama and Tokyo to each other is a saving grace, because Patton will be able to use his Level 4 Street Fighting and Level 3 Explosives. Deploy as soon as possible all other generals in rocket artilleries. As soon as you secure Japan, liberate Korea and the Yangtze River. The hardest part of this conquest is the fact that by the time you secure East Asia the entire world except maybe China, Australia, and Thailand is occupied. You have to leave two generals in the defense of Japan (Patton must survive, and someone like Goring or Sansonetti should accompany him), send two towards Europe and two towards the Americas.
Iraq: Iraq has the same walkthrough as Egypt, although aliens will start swarming around you from round 1. Iraq to Egypt is Germany to Italy. Iraq is capable of producing more rocket artillery since it has the second highest per-turn gold output. Iraq also has a General infantry EC pre-deployed on a motorized infantry who can serve as a meat shield early game. Tehran and Ankara will be left empty after the first wave. You should occupy those, then play like Egypt.
Thailand: Capture all cities on the Yangtze River and abandon Bangkok entirely if it becomes costly to defend it.
Spain: Spain has the worst per-turn economic output, so you have to deploy an artillery general in the field artillery because the production of rocket artilleries would be too slow. Use your heavy tank as a meat shield while you wait for another rocket artillery and the aliens are rushing towards Barcelona. The worst part of playing as Spain is Barcelona being separated to an alien ship-occupied Madrid by two rivers and the aliens targeting you early. You must have a high artillery technology so that your first artillery general will have more damage in exchange for receiving retaliation more often.
Saudi Arabia: You must anticipate the fall of Baghdad before you can start playing like Egypt. It is hard to do since Iraq is deadbrain as an ally. Deploy an artillery EC on the field artillery. Use Mahdi as your meat shield.
India: At first, you have no capability of producing any kind of artilleries. The nearest city, Tehran, is occupied by a UFO. The only thing you have is a field artillery, a commando, and a destroyer. Is there hope? Maybe, if you upgrade your infantry and artillery technology. You need a fast, tanky and explosive artillery general. A promoted Govorov suffices. Sneak to Tehran together with your motorized infantry to begin cracking the city. Maybe start spending some gold and iron on building coastal artilleries around Tehran to distract aliens and crack Tehran faster.

Here's my take on 1939: Note: These conquests are rated based on no generals and no tech, as well as how easy they generally take for players to figure out the strategies. Which means that if you have generals and adequate tech then most of these countries will be easier to play as, one example is France, which even though it's rated orange in here, if France manages to punch into Munich then it would be rated green. Purple means very easy, minimal strategization required to play comfortably. Green means easy, requires strategy with small hurdles. Yellow means normal, 100% doable with no gens and tech, but many hurdles to overcome. Orange means challenging, theoretically doable with no gens and tech, unfamiliar players might lose in this conquest. Red means hard, near impossible with no gens and tech. A lot of 1 star Allied countries fall into this rating, it's because they're either in a vulnerable position, or struggle to expand. Dark red means very hard, same issues as red-rated countries but worse. 3 starsGermany: The key on doing this conquest is to manage your generals and money correctly. You're surrounded by enemies at the beginning, but they are weak and disorganized. With Göring, Guderian, Manstein, and many powerful generals, blitzkrieg Europe and acquire Lebensraum from the world!
Italy: Your expansion is limited as your allies keep taking cities left and right of you. You must secure cities quickly in order to have access to the rest of the world, but other than that this conquest is cakewalk. The downside of this conquest is that finishing within 65 turns is near impossible, at least for a beginner.
Japan: What happens when you have a powerful army preparing to take over a huge, loosely defended land, and a navy that would challenge the States? That's right, you become an unstoppable force! Take over China, send troops to Alaska, defeat the American navy, and victory is guaranteed on your hands! (easiest 1939 country)
France: Being surrounded by enemies in this scenario is more of a disadvantage to France, and if you do not take over Germany quickly, the wave of German generals will make sure you never will.
USSR: With Poland as a meatshield, use this opportunity to invade the Balkans and attack Germany from the south. The real problem here is making use of Voroshilov and Shaposhnikov in the east.
UK: You are everywhere, but also safe enough that enemies will struggle to take any of your cities. Your armies are sufficient in EVERY front, with Monty in London to harass Germany, Dempsey in Middle East to capture cities (and defend against Italy), and Wavell in Burma to defeat Thailand and stop Japanese expansion.
USA: Your Pacific task force is enough to take over Japan, and there are neutral cities below your country, waiting for you to take them. To succeed in Europe, you must place Eisenhower on an airfield and use him to conduct airstrikes. 2 starsSpain: Take France and UK, and what's left is just a long expansion to victory. Your allies will do the heavy fighting, all you have to do is take the cities.
Romania: Send Dumitrescu to Belgrade and Antonescu to Krakow, then make units to take Soviet cities. Your only danger is Govorov next to you, and there's also Chuikov and Malinovsky harassing you.
Australia: Your position is well suited to combat the Japanese in Asia, but in order to have a comfortable time in Europe, you must send a fast general to secure a city in the Balkans.
Canada: North Japan is heavily fortified by battleship generals, and while Paris is ripe for taking, the enemies will make sure you have a hard time holding it. You are expected to deal with 2 Axis giants simultaneously, while only given 3 units and a level 2 factory in the west.
India: Compared to Canada, you are in a better position. Secure a city in the Balkans while conquering the Middle East, and send units to halt Japanese expansion.
Poland: This conquest feels just like France, despite being on the opposite side. Rush Berlin, defeat Germany, and... you know what to do next. The good thing is that you don't get many generals after Guderian.
ROC: A big country with loads of generals? Well, managing your generals is very important as it will decide your country's life and death, but if you succeed, you'll become a major power that gives the Axis a lot of trouble. 1 starBulgaria: Great position, as you have 2 capital cities waiting to be captured, and Middle East close by. Be careful of Govorov and Kuznetsov.
Finland: Take Leningrad and Riga, and you'll find yourself in the perfect position to attack the Soviets. Rokossovsky, Zhukov and Konev will be your biggest obstacles, but once they're defeated, you have a long but easy expansion on your way.
Hungary: What can you do but expand, expand, and expand? To the north you have Poland which will be weakened by the Germans and Romanians, to the south you have the Balkans and Middle East.
Thailand: You're in an interesting position, enemies surrounding you, and no level 2 factory... After taking Asia, it's just a very long expansion and cleaning up the big mess that is Europe.
Belgium: Move Leopold out of Brussels, and for some reason Manstein will head to Paris... You will get some generals, but after taking Berlin the conquest becomes smoother.
Denmark: Paulus will suicide charge at you, and Raeder spawning next to Copenhagen... Just take Berlin and use field artillery to defend Copenhagen.
Egypt: Decent economy for a 1 star, and Middle East ripe for taking... but don't get too excited yet. Field artillery spamming in the Balkans is just as grindy.
Greece: After Yugoslavia dies, Germany will either head towards you, or leave you to Italy's mercy. Don't waste time on Middle East, take Belgrade as soon as you can, and follow the Yugoslavian conquest.
Mongolia: If you want a real challenge, this is your conquest. You won't die immediately like Yugoslavia, but with Japan at your doorstep it's only a matter of time before you die to their air force. Your starting position is terrible as you're given no level 2 factory and only 2 infantries. On top of that, you must fight hard to even get your first city, be it Changchun or Peking, and you must think which is the best time to send units to secure a city in Europe before Germany does its map-coloring campaign.
Netherlands: Same as Belgium, but less generals coming after you.
Norway: The only threat to your capital is Raeder, but he's not guaranteed to move towards it.
Yugoslavia: 5 nations attacking you at the same time isn't fun, so why not sacrifice your generals to defeat them? Because after taking Sofia + Bucharest + Rome, the conquest becomes surprisingly much easier.

Now for 1943:Disclaimer: 1943 is slightly more difficult than 1939, as the AI now have some tech upgrades. In order to be comfortable in 1943, it's recommended to have at least PMI and MRB. 1943 conquest favors Allies instead of Axis, and Germany will be a sitting duck for about 30 turns. 3 starsGermany: With a huge amount of income and oil fields, you are now one step away from being unstoppable. Your enemies, UK and USSR had set up defensive measures to put you back into your place, but fret not, as you are given 2 good air generals: Kesselring and Student. Place the former in Berlin, and the latter in Kiev, and watch your enemies crumble away into nonexistence.
Italy: Germany stole your limelight? Well no problem, Africa will be your main show, have Zurich be your assistant to get the Western audiences, and to sabotage Germany's grand finale, take the Middle East and surprise the Soviets!
Japan: China had bolstered its generals in order to stage a counterattack on you, but you have an artillery and a super tank at your home islands, use them to outrange the Chinese troops. South East Asian front will be brutal, so take your time to defeat the enemies there. Overall, this conquest is similar to 1939.
USSR: Defeat the German front line, and you'll find yourself swarming through Germany like a huge tidal wave. Taking Changchun is not a fever dream as you now have Voronov to siege it.
UK: Don't be afraid of German strategic bombing of London, concentrate on taking Berlin as soon as possible, and place Dowding on it to rain missiles in Europe. Africa will be easy as you have Monty on super tank. The Asian front is somewhat similar to 1939, but you have Slim and Mountbatten assisting Wavell.
USA: Concentrate on retaking Manila, and just repeat the 1939 process, before finishing off Japan at Singapore and Jakarta. I'm surprised that you're given Arnold, since he's a very powerful air general, and along with having nukes, well... just imagine what happens when you put him in Berlin.
2 starsSpain: No immediate enemies, but if you don't expand quickly the enemies will build up their strength over time, and you'll face a greater problem later on. Your position is relatively safe, only having to face the swarm of enemies coming from the Americas. The challenge of this conquest comes in where you should attack early game, but if you played Italy 1943 then this wouldn't be hard to figure out.
Romania: The Soviets will send more generals to you than Germany, so you must use the time given to build as many field artilleries as possible. Unfortunately after you dealt with the Soviets, the Allies had built up their troops and has started attacking your allies.
Australia: Work your way up from Manila, and send a fast general to secure a city in Europe. Similar to 1939, but without paraspam.
Canada: Rush north Japan before the navy generals spawn, and attack Changchun while your allies are busy attacking Tokyo. For Europe, capture Paris, and work your way to Berlin. A lot easier than 1939.
France: Terrible economy as you only have a level 1 city, but at least you have De Gaulle to defend it. Send LeClerc to take Bangkok, and capture Athens to start an invasion of the Balkans. There's also Middle East nearby.
India: Same as 1939, but with more units to capture Middle East cities, and that makes your income increase in no time.
ROC: Your generals are now more powerful, use them to drive the Japanese out of mainland Asia. You still need to send units to secure a city in Europe. 1 starBulgaria: You're given some time to conquer the Middle East before the Soviets defeat Romania and showing up on your doorstep. Defeat them, and you'll have an easy conquest on your way.
Finland: With Govorov and later Timoshenko in Leningrad, you have limited options on expanding your territory. Thankfully, there's Stockholm nearby, and northern UK is virtually undefended. Your early game should be focusing on defeating UK and USSR, but after defeating them, Germany miraculously becomes strong and may assist you in your conquest.
Hungary: Same as Bulgaria, but slightly further from Middle East.
Thailand: Basically Yugoslavia 1939, so if you want to survive, you have to break through the siege quickly. After that, there's not much in your way other than the Soviets.
Brazil: Your remote position in America hinders your ability to set foot on Asia early on, so you are forced to fight Japan in its prime; For Europe you have many options: invade either Africa, Spain, or Paris.
Cuba: Same as Brazil.
Egypt: With Middle East right next to you, your income will increase quickly while you're attacking Germany. For Asia, you are close enough to take Bangkok when Japan takes it.
Mexico: Same as Brazil, but you're closer to Japan, in exchange for being further away from Europe.
Mongolia: Same as 1939, but Europe will be much easier for you, and Japan isn't keen on attacking you either.
