Note to self on this while I remember: I was saving medals for my next general purchase as I usually would, but I realised that now that we need a larger squad it makes more sense strategically to spend a few hundred upgrading some of the supporting players in order to complete this trial asap, as Gungnir will help with progressing through the game and the extra medals from farming Legend mode will recoup the medals spent pretty quickly anyway. It is always psychologically difficult to spend medals on upgrades and promotions when we have enough funds to hire another big name. But, I agree, with all this content we need a "team" sooner than later. What age should you be in to beat the first Mythological trial? I can get to the end pretty easily but then my team gets demolished by the god at the end.

In these mythological trials we have to use our reserve generals to weaken or destroy his minions and walls. So, swap equipment and deploy the rest of your generals first before your main team join the action. And, second, a general with leadership is very helpful against this final boss. Iron Duke made a video recently how to beat him with a weak team.

I realised in my previous game link that the Armour from the Barbarossa campaigns is important too, and if you can pick up the Serpentine Sword that's useful as well.

Do you think it's possible with my main team of Attila, Alexander, Edward, Joan of Arc, Moctezuma and Asoka/Cleopatra? All of them are at 2 stars except Attila and Edward are at 3. I don't have the Serpentine Sword or the Paladin Armour yet, but I will try to get them.

Cleo's job is to hit the towers (or at least one) and you want to be able to hit the boss with Edward and/or Mocte's Leadership early so he doesn't just wipe everyone out. The first wave should be strong enough to clear the minions and ideally at least partially damage the wall and towers so that you're main team aren't spending too long hacking away at them.

I ran out of attempts today, so I will try tomorrow. Edward and Mocte only have lvl 1 leadership so it most likely will unfortunately take some soft resetting.

Level 1 Leadership won't cut it, you need at least level 6 so that it lasts 2 rounds and you have >50% chance of it triggering.

I've been saving up for Nobunaga and I am 1500/2300 of the way there. It's close enough that I don't want to splurge my medals on upgrades just yet...

To buy Nobunaga or another big name is always an attractive way of spending medals. But if you can beat NT1 more or less consistently everyday - that means getting 120 medals. Not a minor deal I would say.

But, even if I upgrade, there is no guarantee that I will be able to beat it consistently. I am also now at 1700 medals so I think that I will save for Nobunaga and then upgrade his leadership.

My idea was the opposite one... My intention was to create a six-man team able to beat NT1 on auto without any intervention or swapping equipment (I really hate this, though it is a really helpful strategy). Khalid with Spy (lvl 8) Attila and Hannibal with braveness (lvl 10) and Mocte with Leadership (lvl 10). So, now I am just enjoying my time when they are fighting Another positive side is that I am able to get some diamonds too, and they are essential for unlocking Borte and Occlo (30 medals and 20 literature a day respectively).

I also hate swapping equipment. It is helpful, but it is also tedious and feels a little like cheating. I am now at 1900 medals though, so I am going to stick it out and get Nobunaga.

You can't be wrong with hiring Nobunaga, that's for sure A great general and an excellent long-term investment.

I completed a couple of hard mode battles and here is what I think will be a paradigm or a pattern. There are actually 3 types of battles. 1. Strongholds. I haven't played it yet, but as Iron Duke pointed out these are defensive battles with a lot of generals on the battlefield. 2. Opening battles like Thermopiles. They are very like regular campaigns, but winning conditions and opponents are different. They are only moderately difficult. 3. Second type of battles which have nothing in common with regular campaigns. These will be insanely difficult. Here is an example of such mission - "Hold Thermopiles" And this is Classical age!

True, anything other than the more extreme original level is difficult even for me, and I am in Industrial Age.
