Actually, for cav, they're faster due to their slightly higher movement stats. I usually found inf to be more slow if there is no March. That's why you can set buying Antony as a lower priority. Belisarius is a cav fort cracker and practically the best cav gen for non-IAP players. Buy him and Crassus isn't as important for your lineup. The pre-Belisarius era made do with Crassus as the sole fort cracker and Commander, if applicable, and Pompey as secondary fort crackers. This is why you don't really need more than one primary fort crackers. Follow up with Vercingetorix (the most defensive inf gen) / Burebista (a far less popular, but still viable choice, being an anti-archer specialist).

Actually Labienus is a viable option too... With a banner of Jupiter he is a rival to both Virx and Crassus.

Don't forget that your tactical possibilities are limited by the number and quality of troops you have at the beginning of each mission. So, perhaps, a balanced approach is the most advantageous one...

None of his skills, if I remember correctly, could be strengthened by a new Jupiter banner. Labienus has two such skills - Infantry commander and Plain fighting. I think it counts too in favour of Labienus.

Yeah, I guess, it is possible but I prefer attack-minded generals to defence-minded ones. I really like Labienus and use him a lot.

This Verci isn't a joke. He hits very hard and super tanky. New banner is a great buff for Verci.

I came to the same conclusion but it had to do with Pompey being a consul and Labienus still a legatus and no maxed skills. For campaign and conquest I still prefer the extra movement flag on Pompey. And my db farming became a lot more consistent thanks to Pompey dealing more damage (at least considering the recent 4 runs)
