...but a guide nonetheless. Welcome to the useless guide for Battle of Midway. Why is this useless compared to the other guide, you might ask. That's because I'm going to describe here how to complete this mission without landing troops. You can say that it's for those who play GoG3 on PC. There is a weird glitch which doesn't gives us landing troops for PC users (Now that's what I call bias ET), possibly because it's an older GoG3 version. Easytech, please...patch it up
Coming to the guide, you need some expensive stuff. Namely -
1. Level 6 navy tech
2. Donitz (3 stars, i.e. promoted thrice)
3. Kesselring
4. Ozawa
5. Riccardi
6. Any other general with promotions (I used Rommel with 3 stars/promotions, although he really didn't do much and Guderian with 4 stars, who did a lot.)
My airforce tech is just level 1 so it shouldn't bother you
Your objective - defeat 4 key units.
1. Nimitz in a Battleship below the second island
2. Fletcher on the aircraft carrier in the eastern port of first island
3. An American general (Spruance maybe?) and
4. American Commander on a Battleship and aircraft carrier respectively in the northeast corner of the map
Firstly, put Donitz on the starting battleship, Kesselring on the aircraft carrier, Riccardi on the Destroyer and your 4 star general on the other Destroyer (Guderian in my case). Move them towards the northeast corner first. Recruit a submarine and put your other star general on that. Use Kesselring's and Donitz's range to destroy the ships guarding those 2 key units in the northwest corner of the map. Make sure you don't allow any ships too close to Kesselring, especially submarines as he is fragile and you need to protect him till the last.
Once most of the enemy ships in the northeast have been destroyed, and when you will see Spruance, weaken him with Kesselring first and then send Riccardi and Guderian to finish him. The general on the aircraft carrier will be easily blown to pieces as he can't counterattack.
In the meanwhile, attack the port at the north of the first attack using Donitz's range. If you're lucky, then once you weaken it, the ship in the port will move aside. If not, use your submarine to destroy it. Capture that port with one of the cruisers as loss of them won't matter. On the next round, use a battleship from the reinforcement section and put Ozawa on it. Immediately you will see Fletcher on the other port.
DO NOT SEND IN DONITZ OR KESSELRING TO DESTROY FLETCHER!! It's just fiercely guarded. So how do you defeat him? By using our trump card Ozawa of course. Remember that Battleships have 4 range, just enough to hit Fletcher every round whilst avoiding coastal cannon fire from the other island. Defeat him that way. Also use Kesselring's range to hit Fletcher, but make sure he is in a safe spot. By this time, you would have about 90 coins. Use them to replenish Ozawa every round.
In the meanwhile, our Riccardi - Guderian duo would have returned from their adventure. It's ok if you lose one of them too. Park your navy until Fletcher is gone. Then again, send Ozawa to Fletcher's port. It will take two rounds remember. Once Ozawa has secured the port, send your navy rushing inside. Take Donitz first, followed by Kesslering and Guderian and your other ships (If any). Now, once Nimitz is in sight, use all (By all, I mean even the fighter plane) your air reinforcements, weaken his morale and then strike with Kesselring and Donitz. Finish him! (Might take 2 rounds but it will be ok)
In the meantime, park your other ships in between the two islands so that they distract the coastal cannons. Replenish Ozawa every round.
Few important things to take note of -
1. The enemy AI targets our allies fleet first. Use that period to deal as much damage as possible.
2. Kesselring is extremely important.
3. You can place your other promoted general on a cruiser too, but it might be too fragile.
4. The path to Nimitz is fiercely guarded and since you don't have landing troops due to a stupid glitch, you need to distract the enemy. Ozawa does just that. At the end, park your other ships in between both the islands so that the land troops don't target Donitz and Kesselring.
5. In case you don't have enough ships for distraction, you can buy one extra ship from the reinforcement section.
