Only four slots, then?
I've just found out that Poniatowski was made Marshal of the Empire, so, if you're willing to use him even if he's not French, max his stars in everything, including navy. He would be very versatile.
If you don't want to use him, go with Davout, Murat, Ney and last Oudinot, who doesn't need training (except in movement).
If you want to save some emblems, get Marmont for artillery and Lefebvre for Infantry. Get them early and max out their stars.
Anyway, you'll need to max the navy stars of some general. Choose someone with assault art, fireproof or leadership, if possible.
P.S.: @michel Ney , Prince of Moscova In your run with French gens in EW6 1804, did you manage to get three stars in all Crimean war missions?

My play through would be completely F2P and non- princess so i doubt I would be able to get generals like davout or murat and though poniatowski is definetly a great choice though he too cost medals and regarding you 2nd question i have not completed the crimean war mainly due to lack of effort and motivation

Sounds like you don't appreciate artillery generals. Mind explain why? Gouvion is the cheapest of them all that is true, but he is also the slowest. He is the only one we talked about who cannot move 4 grids on guards cav. If you need a really cheap cavalry general then Augereau would be a slightly better pick. With Bernadotte as second artillery (3 stars) he should be pretty well set. I think Isabella would be perfect as the first artillery general, but Grouchy or Marmot also work. Bernadotte and Ney is a good start, there's a lot of positional flexibility with the two of them. If you are talking about using Bernadotte more as a pure artillery instead of an infantry with artillery hybrid ability then I agree.

I have serious doubts in bernadotte ability on a artillery though , since he has mainly infantry based skills , i used him on an artillery before he did consistent though not much damage

You will need to get items to upgrade damage. But at higher levels you will have a problem because none of the marshals available has accuracy. That is why Isabella would be the perfect fit.

Bernadotte ability on artillery is almost the same as Berthier.

Only Marmont, Jourdan, and Ney have damage related skills on artillery.

I think long term Grouchy is the better choice,a lot depends on how many medals you have. Marmot is cheaper.

Wait for Grouchy then. He has 4 artillery stars to Marmots 2 right?

Wait for Grouchy then. He has 4 artillery stars to Marmots 2 right? 3 I think , but his skills are pretty... Unqiue woth grouchy having ballistics and engineering to marmonts explosives and engineering , though we have a battle between fence and war master / expert

Ballistics is useless because of a bug in the game. It's supposed to give a bonus to your lowest rolls (all 1s become 2s) but doesn't work. Fence is practically uselese because artillery can't build fortifications.
From what we know explosives works (all 6s are 7s) but I have my doubts- it's difficult to test and I wonder why it wouldn't be affected by the same bug.
War expert is very useful as is engineering. Grouchy also has more stars.

Both, unless you are using Bernadotte only as artillery. Get Marmont first.

I use bernadotte mainly on infantry ( nonally guards ) but use him on artillery in some battles , i also realised berthier works on artillery though albeit poorly
