Next you will definitely need an infantry. Verc, Pompey are the two major ones, but all gold ones are Viable.

I will probably get Mithridates as my 2nd archer general. For cavalry, I will likely drop Pacorus at some point but he will be staying with me for awhile. Belisarius looks like a really good choice and I will have my commander focus on cavalry. This feels like a good base for me to have 2 generals for each of the land unit types. From there I am not sure if I should buy more generals or upgrade my existing generals.

I completed my first expedition. The final battle looked like a huge task with my starting troops but I am glad the AI reinforcements arrived after I captured the cities. I only got 2 stars for the overall expedition. Does the number of stars depend on something like the number of turns taken or legions lost?

I think you just have to complete all the battles for 3 stars.

I am at the Gallic Wars now. The Gallic Wars are one of the most famous of Rome's wars and this campaign looks particularly long with 7 battles.

Burebista works as a sort of Verc as well, just as a note.

I completed the conquest of africa and now have the africanus uniform. I just brought Belisarius and plan to get Vercingetorix next The general consensus for infantry general is there are 5 infantry general worth getting: Pompey, Vercingetorix, Crassus, Labienus, and Bato. Pompey is undoubtedly the top pick but the second choice is still debatable up to today. Vercingetorix and Crassus are the top favorites due to their rank, but Bato and Labienus have supporters as well.

Although everyone will disagree, I think Vercingetorix is the best infantry general in the whole game. And if not, then atleast the second best. You will not regret it.

I done the Retreat of Romans and it was quite a somber battle. The invasion of Parthia looked like it was going well in the first campaign battle but here we are dropped right in the middle of the disastrous Battle of Carrhae. Even the briefing is sad as Crassus tells of the death of his son and the hopeless situation. The situation is immediately dire as the battle starts. The Roman garrisons around the map are attacked by the overwhelming Parthian forces, the west side of Carrhae is blocked, and Crassus is about to be killed by Surena. Even if I save him from his immediate death by beating Surena, Crassus will only have a little amount of HP left and did not survive the retreat. Regardless this is the end for Crassus, the general we fought with for the Spartacus Uprising. I was able to make a breakthrough but retreat takes a toll on my forces. Even as I get near to a victory, Cassius reminds us of how much a disaster the battle is and there is little satisfaction from completing this campaign battle. Rather then victorious battle, it feels like we have been heavily battered and just barely escaped.

I done Escape to the East and this was a interesting campaign battle. It appears we are playing as Publius and his troops that charged the Parthians during the Battle of Carrhae. This looks like the first battle that really goes into alternate history. Publius, who was Crassus son, died and this unit was destroyed in our history. Here, the troops are unable to make it back to roman lines but they survive and make it east to the Han Dynasty. If Easytech had made more generals for this game then I think Publius would be one of them, he would have been given the dialogue instead of Cassius, and replaced one of the generic roman generals. While the FOW in easytech games is controversial, here I think it really adds to this battle. We don't know whats enemies are ahead, all we know is there are enemies in our rear and we must move forward. It really gives the feeling of being lost in enemy territory and in a unknown land. There is some foreign nation in the east but we have no idea how they look like. It was quite a sight for me to see the han units for the first time. Without FOW, this battle would not have felt the same. One thing I wonder is what happened to the roman soldiers after. This battle is seperate from the rest of the campaign and it feels like we don't get a conclusion to it. At the end we basically have a few thousand roman soldiers stranded in the Han Dynasty. There could be some interesting story here like the romans trying to find some way to get back to Rome or their adventures in the Han Dynasty. One of the future campaigns is called strike from the han dynasty so I wonder if these romans will appear or play some part in that campaign. There is a theory that some roman prisoners from the Battle of Carrhae went on to fight in the Han Dynasty. Perhaps the campaign is a nod to this and we will play as these lost roman legion in the Han Dynasty.
