What do you think which unit will become the most used one? Due the rarity of upgrade items I don't want upgrade ünits too early since I'm early still early game. But regarding to gcr, I used some low-level units like swordsmen even in late game quite often. So, what are the heavy used units which are preferred to upgrade?
Second, I haven't found are thread about legions, are there already discussions about how offensive and defensive mechanics work?

1. My bread and butter has mostly been charge cav because they can charge. All the other except ranged infantry/cavalry only hits the first row, and they're not effective against melee inf which are fairly common. Obviously spamming only one unit isn't smart. It depends on what you're up against and what you need. So take a look, my general rule of thumb is to use the unit that the enemy doesn't have a counter for, but occasionally you'll encounter swarms of single unit types. Sometimes you need to deploy a general on a specific unit type fast, and sometimes you just need a bag of meat in front of your cities for the cheapest possible (swordsmen). I estimate I spam about 60% charge cav, with the other units being melee inf, counter inf, range inf, range, cav and melee cav in decsending importance. This isn't relevant for upgrades when it comes to conquests since the upgrades aren't applied there. Your unit levels are dependent on what age you're in. But it does help in campaigns. 2. I think this is somewhat well covered in these two threads: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/17060/mixing-units-legioneuropean-war-4.boards.net/thread/16901/full-guide-ew7-warning-long
