That stage sucks. The only way to beat it is to chuck tons of war drums at it. Literally. There is no other feasible way to beat it without using war drums. Also try and stun lock Saladin, and kill off the foremost counter infantry. Use war gear to take less damage. And yeah. After wasting about 10-30 war drums, you should be able to win

Also do you have a strategy... like should I try and kill Saladin first or kill the other units and then kill him... should I try to put more of my guys onto the navy so that they will do more damage or something etc.

Ok. The strategy is to kill Saladin first. Make sure to put the reduced war gear on richard 1st to make sure your 3 stack knights Templar do not die during the first assult. Next, you use your large war drums to heal your richard. Use a variety of large and small war drums, where large ones are for units that need a large boosts of HP and smaller ones for smaller units of HP. After killing saladin, kill the rest of the units. Continuously use war drums as a lot of your units will be poisoned. Make sure most of your units are alive as reinforcements come along as well later in about turn 6 or so (can’t remember the exact turn). Make sure you Break the counter infantry using melee unit or archer units before attacking with Richard. Otherwise it’ll cost even more war drums. Essentially, minimise damage taken, heal up, and kill Saladin ASAP. Stun him, and use Cnut composture ability to reduce his counterattacking abilities/attacking abilities. It’ll probably cost you at most 20 large and 20 small war drums. I did it with 6 small, and 8 large war drums.

Do you think I need to buy Theodora for her skill reset ability (Calmness) to use on Cnut? Also what equipment should I max first... the medical tent or the dromon/ship?

I didnt use it, but it probably is a good idea. Simply put, you can take over 50% less damage when attacking saladin, and it is useful if you can apply it over multiple turns to kill him off with minimal damage.
