Since KenKenGreatest made a lot of inf gen reviews, I'd thought I'd make one too.
Kuribayashi
Stars: 3 stars in infantry, none in mobility, 1 in air
Skills: Bayonet Charge (Gold), Raider (Gold), Samurai (Gold)
Analysis: I will be comparing him to Yamashita, Rundstedt, Kesselring, Student, Mannerheim and Ushijima. These will be based on value.
1. Kuribayashi vs. Yamashita
Yamashita is better because he has a survivability skill (Guerilla), 4 stars and 3 stars in mobility. (but Kuri can be used on taurus or promoted grenadier)
2. Kuribayashi vs. Rundstedt
Yes, I am saying that Kuri is better, value-wise. *gasp* 1. Model works for 1941. 2. In 1944 general lineups barely matter because of the additional general slots. I'd also rather have an inf gen in 1942 because you get more infantry in Pacific. Kuri has more consistent damage and Samurai is better than Plunder Supply because this is infantry, not HTs.
Edit: OK, old me was rather stupid. Rundstedt has better damage (IL) and survivability (FS + Plunder). Kuri is more consistent though. I used to like BC over IL, which explains the text above.
3. Kuribayashi vs. Kesselring
Infantry generals are intrinsically superior to air gens and Kesselring is no match on land.
Edit: Victory Rush is meh. What if you cannot encircle the enemy, or the enemy is in high morale?
4. Kuribayashi vs. Student
Kuri wins because the output is similar even when Student has the morale boost and paratroop SFs aren't needed. Also Kuri has Samurai which is a nice bonus.
5. Kuribayashi vs. Mannerheim
Mannerheim is trash. He has no BC or Raider or FS or Guerilla or Infantry Leader or...
6. Kuribayashi vs. Ushijima
Sorry bud, go back to challenges (which is the only place you're useful). Crowd Tactics isn't bad on inf, but Desperate is reserved for when you're desperate and Scout is... Let's move on.
I will also compare him to MacArthur, Slim, Tassigny, Konev, Bradley and Clark.
1. Kuribayashi vs. MacArthur
What did you expect? FS beats Samurai by a long shot, BC isonly a bit better (Edit: worse) than IL, and both have Raider. MacArthur also has an extra star and more speed.
2. Kuribayashi vs. Slim (Tossup)
Base damage is +27 and +26 respectively, Raider is worse than Guerrilla in my book but Reserve is not exactly amazing, Kuri is also cheaper.
Edit: Depends on whether you are looking for survivability or damage. Damage: Kuri, Survivability: Slim.
3. Kuribayashi vs. Tassigny
Unpopular opinion incoming... Slim is better than Tassigny. *gasp* I can make a thread justifying myself if you want, but this thread is about Kuri. BC trumps VR any day, Raider is worse than Guerrilla but Samurai is better than Silver FS, especially because FS loses half of its effectiveness when there is Gold Guerilla, for obvious reasons.
Edit: Tassigny has better survivability, but Kuri has enough damage to justify being better.
4. Kuribayashi vs. Konev
Hybrids suck in this game, so... Crossfire is meh, Snow Fighting is meh, and Encouraged... Kuri seems to always have high morale anyways.
5. Kuribayashi vs. Bradley (Tossup)
Bradley is kinda underestimated in my opinion. IL works alright, Reserve is still not amazing but Jungle Fighting is underrated. Kuri is still better though because BC trumps IL, Samurai trumps Reserve (most of the time) and Raider is only a little worse than Jungle Fighting.
Edit: IL is better than BC and Raider is better than Jungle Fighting. Depends on whether you think you can use jungles well.
6. Kuribayashi vs. Clark
All of his skills are trash. IL is good but it's silver, PS is awful on infantry and Amphibious is...
Conclusion: Must buy. Does not replace buying Yamashita or Rundstedt though. However good he may be for his price, you still need someone else. 9/10
Edit: OK, buying Rundstedt and Yamashita should be enough. Kuri has no survivability or movement. His damage is still good. 8/10
