The second best F2p cav gen even without unqiue weapon. Excellent skill sets and is only slightly weaker than Alfred if you equip immortality on him

Additional damage from Immortality loses in comparison to additional damage reduction from Joyeuse, imo. All cavalry generals including Totila can hit hard. The main problem of cavalry generals is survivability.

I upgraded Baldwin's item and I must admit that it made his skill much much better and beneficial. I really like him with upgraded item.

I use this guy to switch position with harald or el cid so they can use 2 hits of outburst and good cav 5/5. I initially thought his active is no good but its actually excellent and very useful in hl treasure and territory imo.

The main problem of cavalry generals is survivability. True, that's what I was thinking... which is why I recommend F2P equip Joyeuse on Baldwin. Give damage items like Immortality to Simeon (who is mainly there just for damage).

yuanzhong, have You upgraded Baldwin's special unit or it was just Cloud save upgrade? Guardians skill with Legion effect is interesting to be tested. It could be very beneficial for Rapid March archers as they are utilizing mobility most effectively.

Would be a great cavalry general after richard and slightly stronger than Alfred if not for his weapon of the IAP. In particular, he can use 2 types of cavalry. I'll temporarily put on richard's weapon 4/5

baldwin best support gen! there was lot of discussion on baldwins skill for f2p. that it might not be useful enough. i played very many hard mode camapign battles lately and he now ranks as my number 1 support general even without any weapon and a 3movement cost. the stunts you can pull with this guy rly are super fun. weather it is protecting units and swapping them in the back row. or swapping them ahead so that dmg dealers can attack twice. i almost never have him attack, only if its to finish sb off, so no problem with survivability. i had great fun just with mobilization. i even finished a house of normandy mission i was stuck ages at more or less thanks to him. he or at least his skill is a gamechanger. his hero legend though is just kinda mediocre imo and havent done it in hard mode yet. some were tough. lots of wardrums^^

i noticed some things i think are new. baldwins active skill was adjusted during last update
nerf: he can no longer swap units into or out of cities. nor castles if the defenses are not damaged. if they are you can swap in and out of castles.
buff: he can now swap places with ai allied units (that are not currently occupying cities) castles as above?-needs double checking ahm lol, we can swap places even with neutral forces in conquest?! LOOOOL
edit again: "nor castles if the defenses are not damaged. if they are you can swap in and out of castles." this was in campaign. in conquest mode i can not switch out or into castles even if they are damaged. lol what is going on. i soon must agree with the "who else thinks the game is too complex" thread
edit: i said in campaign swapping into castles only if they are damaged. in battle for power angevin 10 i could switch in an out without it beeing damaged...

Just a great general with a unique skill. I thought long and hard between Frederick and Baldwin. And Frederick loses to him in all respects. Baldwin can work as melee cavalry and Charge cavalry. Mandatory, if you have POH. His Swap just works wonders with only 2 mobility! You can attack the city with any unit, then swap with Baldwin and attack 2 more times.

Baldwin is a fantastic cavalry general. His unit is very powerful and having a reliable source of them for raiding is great. Garrison Swap is one of the best support skills and can save your best gens for one turn (especially important in something like expedition). Even without item 5/5.
