Since it seems like 500 BCE won the poll I'll start adding rules and countries to this thread and we'll start when we're ready.
Game description and rules
The RP is based on 500/499 BCE at the start of the Ionian revolt.
All normal RP rules apply (see Eugene V. Debs 's pinned thread) unless otherwise is said. Anyways, here are a few rules to keep in mind:
1. Armies
Army sizes are fixed, no recruiting. Some sides don't have any navy, but they can have 30 triremes to give everyone the possibility of naval combat.
2. Diplomacy
You are free to make alliances and declare war. However, any written treaty or alliance cannot be broken until it expires.
Sides
Because of lack of information and of the hundreds of different city states, some sides consist of multiple states. They are however based on history in some way, for example the division of Greeks in Italy is made based on the origin of the colonies.
Army sizes of the specific era cannot be precicely determined for most sides and they are estimations based on different wars and battles the side was engaged, primalrily in the 6th and 5th century BCE, but on later and earlier wars too, if necessary. Also, in some cases I may take into account the balance of the RP so no side would have a huge or tiny army.
Ionian Revolt

Whole RP
Greece
The red line seperates the territories between Sparta and Athens. All blue areas around Delphi, Etreria and Athens are part of the Athens side, as well as the Ionian revolt (which is simplified, but makes it easier for RP purposes), which is marked in the bigger map. The grey area between Delphi and Athens is Boeotia (eeeeef ). For other divisions between Greek sides see the bigger map, except that Aetolia doesn't really have land in the Peloponnesos (Spartan territory). Also don't mind about the blue territory in Epirus/Acarnania.
Sicily (stolen from YouTube )
As told in the map, Gela, Selinous, Akragas and Syracuse are part of Dorics. Leontinoi, Naxos, Zancle, Mylae, Himera, Rhegion are part of the Ionics.
