so i just unlocked terracotta archers and have a few questions to my upgrading path overall. until now i only used mamoth and goblin as meatshield or flanking xD on stats and pictures i found very helpful threads already thanks for those we need gems for honor general title and i upgraded 3 banners already... and probably want to upgrade at least 1 more? i think? 1. so how many gems does that leave me with for pets if i progress successfully f2p? (bc 5 per day are rly not much considering some trumendous upgrade costs) 2. behemoth and cyclops and also terracotta seem to be obvious choices. correct me if i am wrong. 3.Can i reach max lvl with 3 or 4 pets? should i even try to MAX them or is it smarter to have 3,4,or even 6 pets who are all leveld up a little but dont reach max lvl, since i could almost expand my army size by 50% if i spawn many pets. 4 just bc i am curious: which generals do you equip with which pet usually? and why.

1. Maxing a banner costs 180 gems and as you said, you'll want to max atleast one banner (that should definitely be Mars, when you get it) along with the three you've already upgraded. I assume the three are Jupiter, Apollo and Vulcan. From Hero Legend chapter rewards, Epic War, Achievements and Proof of Honour you can get a total of 900+480+240+85=1705 gems + the rewards from individual Hero Legend levels and daily rewards. Although -720 gems because of the banners and then you're going to probably spend some gems on Way of Honour tank upgrades. 2. Yes, you are right. Goblin and Minotaur have terrible armour and attack types, bad stats and bad abilities except Goblin's plague. Mammoth is good but just a worse Behemoth. Griffin is fast, nothing else really Terracotta, Cyclop and Behemoth is probably the best trio until the last chapter of Hero Legend, and Anubis is unlocked. 3. Maxing Behemoth costs 792 gems european-war-4.boards.net/thread/17495/behemoth-gems-costso considering you'll have like ~2000 gems for pet upgrades and the other ones are cheaper, you'll have enough gems to get 3-4 to a decent level atleast (3 or 4 stacks) and Behemoth to max without claiming daily rewards for too long. I would definitely max the Behemoth, get Terracotta and Mammoth to a high level because they're excellent city holders amd Cyclop, because it's a good dmg dealer along the Behemoth. 4. I simply equip the best gems on the best generals, honestly. Behemoth for Commander, Terracotta for Vercingetorix, Mammoth for Mith, Goblin for Belisarius, Minotaur for Pompey, Griffin for Huo. I had my Cyclop on Octavian, since it was unupgraded until recently, but perhaps I won't even change it except for HL, it doesn't really matter that much. nikomachos

Kliment Jefremovitš Vorošilov , thank you so much for answering so thoroughly! i am very happy that i will be able to afford upgrading those gems mentioned and will get to work on terracotta immidiatly (+ a little bit on mammoth too) to 4. you equiped the best on those gens that you use most often /deploy always, as i understand. but is there a secondary consideration where you say: i use Mith and mammoth together because they complement each others abilities, for example idk: mammoth sieges bc mith is more the legion killer. or terracotta is ranged, where vercy is tank. is this sth you experienced or am i overthinking it ? ^^ [ i guess i will try to make "dreamteams" once i have unlocked those gems xD idk if there is some value in this.]

When there were only 3 pets available, I had Mammoth on Commander amd Terracotta on Verci, because those were the gens I used amd still use in HL. Once I got Behemoth, Mammoth got replaced and Mith took the gem. I haven't really thought about it. The reason why I like best on the best (like giving Behemoth to Commander) is because Epic War often includes dividing your forces into two, when distribution of gems matters. But, I don't haven't really consciously thought about the gems complementing the abilities of the holder, but it is definitely something to think about. Also, although I said best gems for best gens, in situations where the general who spawns the monsters doesn't really matter, it would be better - contrary to what I do - equip the gems on your weaker gens and your cav gens, because spawning costs a turn.

Exactly this 😄 in epic war, the strongest generals get the weakest pets or none (9 gens and 7 pets in the most recent chapters)
Goblin lv1 can still spread plague to altars and minotaur lv1 can deal a killing blow sometimes. Both make good blockers and can absorb one or two hits. Griffin I have on lv5 for scouting and to capture city and hold for one turn.
Mammoth, terracotta and cyclops are on lv8 and I keep the gems so I can upgrade them if it’s absolutely necessary or use them for sth more important Behemoth lv9 and worth it. Banners same, only these 3 at max.

nikomachos, if you're upgrading your pets, could you tell me the gem cost of the upgrades, so I could add them to my monster stats thread. I'll give you credit of course. You obviously don't need to do that if you can't/don't want, but it will certainly be helpful for upcoming players.

Kliment Jefremovitš Vorošilov , oh no, i already upgraded terracotta to lvl 5 and mammoth to lvl 4 and since cloud saved. but yes, I will pay attention to all the following upgrades and pets if that hepls. sadly they are 2 of the 4 important ones and behemoth cost you already know, so all essential info i can provide you with in full will be cyclops when i finally get there. if you need goblin, griffin minotaur certain lvls bc you got started on it some i will be able to cloud save and share those as well. i am sorry i missed the costs on these 2 pets oh so i checked behemoth thread again and its always twice the same and then + 22 gems. so maybe i can calculate back once i know the cost increase. edit: yes there seems to be a pattern. for terracotta for example increase every 2 lvls is 14. i will properly info dump you tommorow afternoon would you like screens (there where i can get them) or numbers (well the calculated ones will be numbers anyway^^)

Kliment Jefremovitš Vorošilov , i got excited so i did it already, after i saw the pattern speculation took hold of me : i guessed the pattern with help from behemoth stats available in the thread you posted above. it made me want to do the other pets as well, even if i havent unlocked them to confirm the starting cost: use with caution and everybody is welcome to correct it if its wrong^^ green is confirmed. white is conjecture + math based on conjecture. [edit: actually all of behemoth is confirmed in hrabrimalitoster 's thread, it should be green. whoops] legit confirmation will follow once i or sb else played trough the game and pays attention to this ^^ feel free to transcribe and change the tables contents Pets / Monsters gem upgrading costs

I have minotaur (waste of gems) and cyclops upgraded to level 6 and the level 7 costs check out with your table. I don't have screenshots but I also remember the two 70-gem levels for cyclops.

I don’t get all the hate for the minotaur. Certainly not better than behemoth, but still very useful as an anti-cyclops specialist. For me, it shares 3rd spot together with terracotta after of course behemoth and cyclops

For me, it shares 3rd spot together with terracotta after of course behemoth and cyclops It's not that it's useless, just that its use cases are rather limited, and given that gems are scarce there are better ways to spend them. Strong generals with holy damage plus eagle cohort make short work of cyclops anyway. Mammoth and terracotta warrior are both a lot tankier and hit harder against most enemies, mammoths are good city-busters and great for holding cities too. I'd even rate griffin ahead of minotaur, just because a super-mobile unit can be tactically very useful.

Minotaur doesn't offer anything, generals couldn't do better.

What do y'all think about anubis? It seems like its a buffed goblin with cav passive and im all for it Imo it is a question of allocated resources. Obviously it is better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick and upgrade as many pets as possible. But if we have to choose, I believe, Anubis is not a top priority. I mean the guy is unlocked after completing The Great Pyramid chapter. You have to spend tons of gems before reaching him.
