One problem tho, I have the casedeus( I probably spelled that wrong) on Arminius, and taking it off would make Arminius near useless. Can you guys show me some builds for Arminius so I can figure something out?

My Arminius has the Art of War and Gallicus Uniform. And yes, it's not as good as some other generals have. You don't have that many OP items and want to give them to your best generals, and the fact is that Arminius is one of the weaker generals in your endgame lineup. Beli and Huo are both better and both have better base unit types. Sorry Arminius, I love you despite your questionable theological positions, but you're relegated to fourth cavalry general in my lineup. Having said that, I have a cavalry Commander. If you went with archer, then that changes the pecking order. I'd consider leaving the Caduceus with Arminius and giving Huo the golden feather or even shield of thunder.

Also thank you for your suggestion, it's just a little more grinding I have to do. I'm probably gonna give huo a golden feather as my shield of thunder is on Vercingitorix, and it makes him a beast, some times a one hit wonder.

Just a joke about Jacob Arminius (I'm more on the side of Calvin), sorry for confusing everyone. But anyway, I got interested in the classical Arminius. He was from the Cherusci tribe and I found no information online about their religious practices, but presumably he practiced some form of Germanic paganism (which I suppose is also theologically questionable). Apparently our knowledge of Germanic paganism is really patchy, most of our information comes from second-hand Roman and Norse and later Christian accounts, but there are at least some parallels with Norse paganism.

Yes thank you. I understand that the celts (Guals, Britons and others) worshipped warlike gods like the morrigan or the dagda, and I assumed that the Germans worshipped the same. Is that true?

Well, like I said, what we know is patchy, but it seems there was a sort of continuum rather than a single Germanic religion, which isn't surprising since there wasn't really a dominating and unifying center of power. When Roman sources are writing, Germanic gods look a lot like Roman ones. When Norse sources are writing, they look a lot like Norse gods. To some degree that probably reflects authors viewing their neighbors' beliefs through the prism of their own, but also that their religion was influenced by the people they were most in contact with. So it seems likely that Germanic tribes that were constantly in contact with Celts had somewhat similar beliefs, while those that lived further away might be quite different.

Sorry to interrupt this gaming discussion with some historical notes: Hermann the Cherusci, died before Jesus Christ was executed. At his time there were no Christians - protestants and calvinism developed another 1500 years later. Armenius was working for the romans and led later a sucessfull rebellion against them. His decisive victory in the battle against Varus was a historic turning point: One of the biggest roman defeats ever, it stopped all further roman expansion to terretories east of the Rhine. For this reason he was seen a german hero. (Some historians see in him Siegfried)
