My fastest was Yugoslavia too in 24 turns. Allied European 1-stars are in a good position for a speed run, but my Mongolia run at 27 turns probably could have been done under 25 too if I had sent paratroopers to take that last Italian city down at the Horn of Africa a little sooner. I completely forgot Mongolia was a thing, dang. Mongolia's a decent choice as well cause you're shielded from the early European spam. I personally prefer European countries just cause Patton can solo Japan.

Enemy at the Gates moments there :D This guy's OP-ness is shown in conquest. He can one-shot most of your troops with a fighter, and even Italian spam can't take him down.

Not sure how for a never IAP player, but having Eichelberger and an AF general can significantly improve the chance, and for those with ion cannon, rolling for a run that the Germans spare Denmark and Paris maybe the bigger challenge (and if it does happen, 24 turn victory is achievable).

And survive the first onslaught⦠Yeah I also thought it would be a painful slog with how Yugoslavia always gets steamrolled in the first 2-3 turns, but if you can fend off the initial general rush, the small axis nations in the area have lots of high level cities that are easy to take and give a very nice economic base from which to expand quickly. I can't remember all the details, but I think I used either Guderian or my strong tank EC on the starting tank and probably Sikorski or Govorov on the arty. However what I found the most useful is to have lots of strong air generals. I use 3-4 air generals (Gâring, Arnold, Yamamoto, Bittrich) per conquest with dual lvl 2-3 air medals each. They one-shot enemy arty and are very good at taking out enemy generals as well. Bittrich makes airstrikes (and para) 15% cheaper, which is especially handy in the first few turns.
My ion cannon is lvl 11, so 8 turn cooldown, 115 damage, but my other tech is maxed.

Having those medals from the operations helps a lot. You can literally steamroll the Germans because of it.

Indeed, although air medals are one of the cheapest in the shop, only 100 medals each so I also bought a lot from there. 900 medals for 3 x lvl 2 medals (+8 damage each) or 1 lvl 3 (+12 damage) is a very good deal in my view.

I used Guderian, Patton, Govorov, Weidling, Sikorski, and an artillery EC (I posted a guide in The Planning Room using these generals). I used Patton as my air general, and have an ion cannon that does 105 damage per 8 turns. Patton was the only air general I used, and I sent him to Japan early on.

I prefer an air and combo set since it expands your AF range and for AF capable generals like Sikorski, the combo medal also benefit him in artillery aspect.

Having finished all the new conquest challenge achievements, I must say I really, really loved this update. Conquest mode has always been my favourite part of WC3 and this new 1939 conquest was a lot of fun to play! Really looking forward to the '41 challenge. Will be curious about the later ones too, although I'm less fond of higher tech eras with nukes flying around left and right, but I will appreciate any new conquest content, whatever it is.
