I have Bock and De Gaulle at Orange banner.
Bock, I think, is overrated. He is a pretty good general, but compared to my Manstein, when using same ribbons and medals and stuff, I can barely discern an increase in damage (the increase in difference between Bock on enemy territory and Manstein with Rumor was like 30 when I tossed them both on level 6 King Tiger, maybe its just me, I don't know). Maybe I was supposed to put Manstein next to Bock? I would rather use Tolbukhin. However, he still has his fundamentals of Leader, Armored Assault and Inspiration and so he is a pretty solid tank general. At least he's free ... just need to wait like 4 months to get him (or if ET decides to drop batons in the next cc pass expansion).
De Gaulle has the most dramatic jump from original to orange. From a rumor spreader with a basically nonexistent artillery skillset to a powerful general with a built in excellence. Greatest boss general killer in the game so far (ignoring excellence medal) and has good damage without his first skill.

I dont think Rundstedt or Bock need the last upgrade with the battons. Bock with 5 skills is Like old guderian, plain fighting and maybe rumour/Inspiration. De Gaulle without Last Upgrade is still pretty useless. Halsey is fine, but Upgrade is worth. But my First one to be Upgraded to last stage would be De Gaulle.

Halsey upgrade is or isn't worth it? Sorry, the wording used left me unsure of what you meant.

Have you tested Bock with other generals nearby, like Artillery, Infantry and Navy. The description of his unique skill is rather vague. If a Navy general (with Bock next to him) attacks a target on the shore, is his crit damage increased as well or not?

In order to justify his appearance on the battlefield I’ld add Rumor.

Since almost all generals of my first team (let alone of players who farmed Ribbons long before me) have 84% - 90% crit rate, to increase their crit damage by 40% is extremely tempting. But I see more and more disappointed reports about it. That's sad...

He's basically on Rommel level. Great addition for F2P but marginal for heavy spenders. De Gaulle is on the other end. Heavier investment (gold Bock is already good enough but De Gaulle has to be orange), less consistent, but much better potential.

If you think about it this way, with lvl 5 crit ribbon, Bock only increases 20% of your overall crit damage (even less for Manstein and Rommel), whereas IV is 20% on final damage. He's Rommel level good, but not Guderian level.

He's Rommel level good, but not Guderian level. I really can't see why. Most likely both of them will have 4 same skills and then we have IV and bonus for commanding elite units of Guderian vs. Bock's unique skill. If it only 20% damage increase altogether it is still of value because he buffs not only himself but his teammates as well.

Got all of them maxed upgraded. Bock is a tad bit overrated, he is still prob top-5 f2p (kinda) tank gen. Halsey is basically the same as the other air gens, his special skill is kinda bad unless u have the enterprise. Rundstedt's upgrade is not worth it, he is arguably worse than his normal version. DeGaulle is the best of them, has practically built in excellence medal, triggers very often too, he is the best arty gen in the game if his skill triggers.

I don’t understand why Halsey is given fleet leader skill while he is designed for air raiding with carrier..

I don’t understand why Halsey is given fleet leader skill while he is designed for air raiding with carrier.. They have been doing this in WC4 since release, and well before in other games. It’s the notion of “hybrids” that used to exist, but has thankfully, amongst the community, gone away.
