It's nice to have as many generals survive to the endgame as possible (at least for me). And moving Okamura prevents him from dying in the first few rounds of the campaign, so he can still be of some use afterwards. I'd rather him die from the Soviets in Europe, or the folks in the Middle East, than a Chinese nuke in the face before he fires a single shot. Is that what you do to Okamura? I usually: 1. Stay in Tokyo, hold a nuke, then get out, hold another nuke(I rather China nuke Okamura who always gets nuked before joining the battle than Ushijima/Inoue/Toyoda who can make some contribution) 2. Go to America and steal oil fields. China slows down her nuking spree at some point, so it's definitely possible for him to contribute to the battle in the mainland before it's over. I just keep him out of harm's way until China calms down. Where do you deploy him after America? Send him straight to Africa, perhaps, if it's firmly in Soviet control? Then to the Middle East/Balkans? |

Honestly, in 1960, generals are more or less nuke magnets. That's their main purpose. I do the same to the most threatening enemy generals. Fair enough.  At that point, it's just easier to go ahead and use nukes to capture cities rather than generals. Just be sure to capture the connecting airports around the region. |
