I'm also having concerns about this:
World Wars:
World Wars are unlocked once any country has researched the technology "Global Interconnection". World Wars are different than typical wars. World Wars usually will begin between two different alliances, but they can quickly expand to include most of the globe. Random events will occur which allow for a random nation to either join a side or remain neutral. You can not willingly join a side whenever you want. The losing countries in the World War all lose 80 prestige and all of their colonies.

Or the reverse, suppose I feel that it's extremely foolish to be involved, and I don't want to, do I have to be involved against my wishes when an event comes up?
2nd concern: The events will have three main formats (Both sides can choose their own alliance names, btw, but for the sake of simplicity i will use the Central Powers and Entente for the example):
1st format:
"A Great War has just broken out between the juggernauts of the planet. There are many different voices in the world, some are calling for war with the Entente, while others support them. Among these cries, a strong presence in our nation is calling for our nation to remain neutral. Which faction in our country do we listen to?"
To hell with the Entente!-Goes to war with the Entente.
Who's for an attack against the Central Powers?-Goes to war with the Central Powers.
Our country wishes to keep its young boys at home-Remains neutral in the conflict.
2nd format:
"We've received word from the Coast Guard that a submarine of the Central Powers has sunk a passenger ship which had many passengers from our country onboard. Warhawks are calling for war with the Central Powers, while many doves say that the ship was carrying munitions and that the Central Powers had to sink it. With both factions making a definite case, who do we listen to?"
The Doves don't know what they're talking about-Goes to war with the Central Powers.
We will remember the fallen, but more of your countrymen will not die-Remains neutral in the conflict.
3rd format:
"A diplomat from the Central Powers has recently sent us a telegram offering us great amounts of land from the Entente if we join on their behalf. Many irredentists and warhawks are ecstatic and are pushing our government to accept, while the doves do not want to go to war. Who do we listen to?"
Accept the offer and begin the attack now!-Goes to war with the Entente.
Tell the diplomat that we reject their proposal-Remains neutral in the conflict.
As you can see, no format forces anyone to ever join the war against the will as every format has an option to remain neutral.
