I am feeling its going to be pretty difficult for Erich von Manstein who picked China/Qing dynasty. after all you have the opium wars, taiping rebellion, boxer rebellion, sino-japanses war which were all pretty hard on china. in the Paradox games (EU4 etc) It's not that bad if you handle the weaknesses and strengths right. It's among one of the largest population, and with that... endless soldiers. So given a good time spent in research infantry-related technologies and developing the infrastructure for economy, the Qing Dynasty can be a benemoth, a scary one with endless soldiers...
