Not sure why you would use Lannes on cavalry. Plus you should have infantry items on Lannes so in order to use him on cavalry you would need cavalry items as well. And if you use him on cavalry, his most important skill, Mass Fire will be negated. Is Geography and it's measly movement addition worth it?

If you have better cavalry units than infantry units (militia vs. heavy cav.) then I'd rather use him on those units. Mountbatten you are fighting more in Suvorov vs. Lannes than Suvorov. And for speedy campaigns you do need a lot of movement.

In my experience with using both of them, Suvorov has come out on top 87% of the time.

Did you use both at the same time?

Did you use both at the same time? Yes I did use them both in one conquest once and used each one of them in a separate. Lannes seemed better for me so I sticked with him.

I have an argument ready but I won't push it. You can continue to use Lannes and I will continue to use Suvorov.

Lannes or Suvorov... Wait no I don't want to drag them into this, bickering like an old married couple The way I see it is that Lannes is more versatile, while Suvorov is stronger with just infantry. Lannes is the only general that has both geography and leadership, besides Poniatowski; but Poniatowski has fireproof rather than massfire, which is a lot less useful. So really in my opinion, if you use trainers to get Lannes to 5 stars in other troop types, he'll kick *Auto corrected* with those troops too, not just infantry

I personally really like Oudinot, but he is over 900 medals. (Dobeln vs Oudinot is a massive debate that I think has its own thread, but one of those two is the best infantry general medals will get you. If you ask me, Hull>Picton and Oudinot>Dobeln since you will have to buy a snare drum (acts as Mass Fire for all units) eventually.
