Picton or Hull?

Head to head, Picton is better because of Mass Fire. but he's also more expensive at 750 medals (Hull costs 595 medals). But if your choice is not limited to these 2 generals, Zakrevsky (455 medals) is one of the best starters since he has Mass Fire and Infantry Trainer for future regroup. If you can save up more, Dobeln is the best infantry general that can be bought with medals at 870 medals (120 medals more expensive than Picton).

Keep saving more a bit and then go directly for dobeln, I did the same and then bought him a baker rifle.

Picton is not very good general because of lack of buggle - that means he can deal anywhere from 70ish to 25ish dmg - changed him for oudinot + snair drum

Dobeln definetely. If you get Dobeln he will be your infantry general for the rest of the game. Picton worked fine for me, but I only bought him because I was tired of searching for Dobeln. But by comparison, Dobeln is stronger.

I would say:
Just don't buy infantry.

I would say: Just don't buy infantry. Unlike in WC3, Infantry is very powerful in EW4. With a good general they can deal 60-100 damage and they have good health. Tier 3 guards with Dobeln or Suvorov on them can lead an army like no other.

Oudinot is another excellent general. The only reason why Dobeln is better is because Oudinot has no Mass Fire and to fix that you would have spend 600 medals on a Snare Drum and take up an item slot.

And Oudinot's training might help him lives longer, isn't it? It's so boring to talk about who is better between Dobeln and Oudinot! Just depends on who you like, right?
