Okay, then tell me which? I will a bit later, but I know that Netherlandians knows as they conquered 4 of them There were 8 colonies, 3 in Africa, 3 in north America and 2 in South America. So two biggest were Gambia(Africa) and Tobago (NA). In NA in place were those 2 colonies were(east coast) there are cities nowadays, I don't have that good old book with me, but thatuch I remember. In South America both colonies were in Brazilian rainforests, in place of one there is a city in which some families talked in Latvian until 1980s. Others are not that important to mention, but they were there.

And in addition: Duke Jakob established one of the largest merchant fleets in Europe, with its main harbors in Windau (today Ventspils), and Libau (today Liepāja). His fleet made voyages to the West Indies as early as 1637 when the settlers on the ship established the first colony on Tobago.

Pretty interesting, but did they really leave an important mark on their areas cultures?

Ivan Kolev I think he meant Suriname. The Light Bringer And one of those east coastal cities founded by the Dutch in NA is one of the most important cities of America! New Amsterdam -> New York City

New Amsterdam -> New York City He is talking of Latvian colonies throughout the world. I guess the VOC put an end to that experiment

New Amsterdam -> New York City Ah, the island of Manhattan... Never been there. And being from a miniscule speck compared to NYC, I couldn't handle the huge buildings. Biggest city I've been to was DC. After that either Tampa, Baltimore, or Atlanta. Baltimore is probably it.
