These are the things school are obligated to teach in the Netherlands. (In order) *Prehistory How the first humans lived, moved out of africa and some "dutch" tribes and its founds. *The great migration The mass migration of european tribes and how the huns ended up in the netherlands making the "hunnebedden", which is still a tourist spot in the netherlands. *Romans and greeks Not much about the greeks in here, but a lot about the romans and their influence in the Netherlands and modern day western society. *Williebrord An englishman who brought christianity to our country and replaced our germanic gods. Famous when he defended with the bible as a shield when he were attacked. Usely a forgotten person after like 20 minutes. *Charles the Great/Charlemagne The mightiest emperor of his age. King of the franks. *Floris V Too complicated to explain, basicelly the elite of nl fighting the other elite of the nl *Urbanization of Belgium How belgium got urbanised back than and how they became the worlds biggest and most important cities. *erasmus Basicelly the most famous human right activist ever in the netherlands, one of the if not the earliest human right activist on the planet *Charles the 5th Lord of the netherlands during austrian/spannish occupation. Kinda our anti-christ *statue storm Protestants destroying roman-catholics churches and especially statues in the churches. Seen as a "victory" for the protestants. The spanish king (very pre-roman) wasnt too happy with it. It started the next subject.. *80 years war Our war of independen against the spanish *Republic of the netherlands Outcome due above *VOC and WIC Our colonial history and our mass amount of slavery. *the water How we protected us against the water Ok, so im now here And it takes me just way too long, if you want i can make it longer... (and my favorite tv-show starts now)

In America, it's just classified as US History, World History, Geography, and then you are done. At least that's how it is in my state. They still have yet to teach about ww1 and probably never will.

Here in the US, in my state: We learn about WWII a lot, mainly since it was America's best period of time. We learned a lot about the Renaissance, Napoleon, the French Revolution, imperialism, industrialization, the American civil war, and the World Wars. We don't really talk about the periods of time before that. We pretty much repeat the same knowledge over and over.

I took AP Geo, during world history we just learned about Abraham, Moses, and the origin of Jewish people. In US History we only went up to the civil war.
