I see some good discussions about best infantry generals in a thread about cavalry. I decide so make another threat about infantry generals here so we can move the discussions to here. I put some info on commonly mentioned generals for a reference.

In my opinion Suvorov is the best infantry general because of his all infantry skill set. I like Victoria and Dobeln equally. All of Victoria's skills are good for infantry but I think Assault/Defense Arts are not very reliable but this is just about preference. Oudinot is Suvorov without Mass Fire while Dobeln is Suvorov without Formation. I prefer Dobeln over Oudinot because Oudinot is dependent on Snare Drum while Dobeln is more flexible with items.

Good idea for a separate thread.
Here are my arguments for Dobeln / Oudinot (copy from other thread)
The difference between Oudinot and Dobeln is quite easy to evaluate.
Dobeln: missing Formation Oudinot: missing mass fire Suvorov: no missing skill Victoria: missing formation and infantry tactics, BUT assault and defense art, missing 2 infantry stars (I wont take it into account, as I can get them later in game and Victoria is for free - so upgrading is the same as a normal buy)
To fix the missing mass fire, you can buy a snare drum (630 gold) To fix the missing formation, you can buy a brown bess (160 gold)
This means, Dobeln becomes cheaper. But even more: you can use a Ferguson rifeln instead of the brown bess (565 gold, still cheaper than snare drum). Then Dobeln does even more damage than Oudinot. But Oudinot is the best choice after Dobeln (and Dobeln is best choice after Victoria - as I dont count generals for which I have to pay real money because of needed emblems).
And this of course means that you have much more flexibility with Dobeln, as Kanue already pointed out.
Of course Suvorov is over Dobeln and Oudinot, as he is missing no Skill. Problem: he costs emblems.
Victoria is superior in my opinion to Suvorov, because her missing skills would add 1 average damage each fight (+1 min damage, +1 max damage). This would be one small item. But assault art in average should compensate for it. If necessary you can reload so you really get the assault advantage. And now we add defence art - and this is the real bonus of Victoria over Suvorov.
Leaves Victoria or Lannes. Well, this is for me completly even. And because Lannes costs emblems, I would still prefer Victoria.
So here is my personal ranking:
1) Victoria 2) Lannes 3) Suvorov 4) Dobeln 5) Oudinot

Picton= discount Oudinot and Dobeln. He is my infantry general I usually have him suicide in a 1v1 fight with a general or guard Sophia while she does her thing. He has served his purpose well enough even though he isn't as good as other infantry generals.

A few observations: 1/Generals with more skills are usually more valuable than less, this include even when they have super skills.Example an infantry general with 4 skills that does not have mass fire is more valuable than one that has only 3 skills but with mass fire. 2/Movement stars are very usefull, one of Victoria strong point is her huge mobility compared to rest.It would cost medals to fix many of the others. 3/Only one infantry general is needed in most line ups. 4/Dual role add value, some generals can do more than infantry (like navy)and this is also valuable, some skills help with that and can be used across military branches (like the leadership skill ect..) pug I think you meant "to fix formation you need..." but yeah great feedback! Good recap chart kanue,I actually found it usefull now as I just restarted EW4 from scratch and this helps me visualize the infantry skills that I want.

For Lannes, I doubt if Geography and Leadership are very useful since as an infantry, you don't need to go into the middle of enemies like cavalries do and your movement is not impaired by the terrain. As saltin mentions, Victoria movement gives her an edge. With 4 stars in movement, she can move 3 grids with machine gun.

It took me so long to reach the point that I'm at now. So much frustration on some of those missions... EW4 was such a game of luck for me I would still be on the starting campaigns if I restarted

saltin, should this thread also be moved to Training camp since its content is similar to the artillery one?

870 medals for for tier 2 Dobeln. He looks funny but medals are well worth it. Too bad we can't sell our old generals back like we can in world conqueror 3. Great chart kanue, love that style!

Actually, I did post a larger chart that contains all of the generals and in more details using data from Monty but I don't remember where . Anyway, you might want to check that out. edited: Here, I found it! european-war-4.boards.net/thread/195/summary-general-data
