Hello all !
I have learnt a lot by reading the subjects about the best infantery and cavalry generals. I already have Oudinot as Infantery General and now I would like to get an artillery general. I would like to know what you think of Mortier. Is it worth the price ?
Thanks by advance.

I will start with a small overview (better to be done later with a nice table from someone else)
First a list of acceptable generals: Princesses: Isabella, Sophia Tier 3: Moreau, Napoleon, Davout Tier 2: Drummond, Grouchy, Jourdan, Mortier, Scharnhorst, Tier 1: Marmont, Sokolnicki
My personal list of favourites is: 1) Isabella 2) Moraeu 3) Sophia 4) Davout
Ok, now let's start the analysis. Mortier (because asked for): acceptable, because you need to upgrade your final generals and he is a trainer. Otherwise not sufficient, because only one primary skill and no other boosts.
Now the top generals: Moreau and Isabella. Both are really close and similar. I consider Isabella upgraded to 5 stars. Moreau: all 4 artillery skills (missing geography item: 815 gold) Isabella: missing explosives, but additional geography. (missing attack item: 80 Gold) To get equal results, Isabella would be much cheaper. Even more I consider speed for artillery essential, and Isabella has lots of it because of geography. But the skill is a great skill for "trading" between generals, so Moreau could get the same advantage at one single damage more. But Isabella could even be a solution for trading in shops. So both are really close. Finally Moreau needs emblems and that's the main disadvantage.
Sophia: doesnt look so nice, but spy is great against fortresses, which are really a pain. And siege art is a specialiced assault art. So you can deal a lot of damage in special situations, which should happen quite often. Disadvantage: only 1 art skill. But the other 2 skills outweigh those disadvantages by far in those situations (fortresses and cities)
Davout: (my special tip) You can give him a try at Imperial eagle / Battle of Jena. Enjoy the damage of assault art. It's fantastic. Davout is THE alrounder. Only 1 artillery skill, but assault art. And you can use him for all kind of units. I got the feeling that with triggered assault art he outperformances even Isabella, but he is much slower. And this is his main disadvantage: he is lacking speed (no engineering, no geography).
And as Isabella and Sophia can easily be gained, besides Davout and Moreau I would only accept artillery trainers (first let them fight, later, when not needed, let them train the princesses)

Here's a chart for artillery generals.
My first 2 generals were Carteaux and Kutaizov. My end game artillery generals are Sophia and Isabela, both of them are strong and free. As for Mortier, his skills are not artillery focus and I don't think he 's worth the price.

Also, I wanna add to pug 's comment that Isabela is especially good on rocket artillery. She can move around the battlefield choosing a good angle to fire a rocket that hit multiple enemy targets. Low movement generals cannot choose angle easily.

I liked Kutaisov, he did a lot of damage and he was good to level up Sophia when i got her. Oak wheels are a necessity with him to boost his movement in my experience, although eventually horse-drawn artillery is a requirement it seems.

pug great tip on using only trainers generals at the start so that they can be used later to train the keeper generals. This help save medals since we cant sell back old generals like we can in wc3.
