The Proclamation of 1848 The Confederate States of America, holding that: All sovereign nations have a right to govern their lands as they see fit; That they have no wish to see the tyranny of a regional hegemon replaced by a international tyrant; That they also believe that once a nation is devastated enough from warfare, it shall seek peace (such as Sweden after the Great Northern War), and thus for some sort of peace on this world, we must first have a world-wide war; Opposes the formation of the League of Nations. Deo Vindice, President John C. Calhoun

When people are arguing as to what should the LoN do, and then suddenly one country completely rejects the idea. (SMH) These people are the real aggressors.

Also, look at the track record of the LoN and UN. You sure they prevent wars? look, don't get the UN involved. Politics is banned in this forum and that's what I'll say about the UN. The real League was a failure as it wasn't by any means able to stop the Germans. We are trying that such situations do not happen.

I don't know how we would know that since the league was just formed, and we have no prior experience to tell us they're worthless... We need to form the rules. Should we create another separate thread for League Actions or put it in here?

Should we create another separate thread for League Actions or put it in here? I was talking about the IRL version. If you have to do it (the CSA however will not join because of the sovereign rights of nations and states), I suggest you make it more like the UN then the LoN. However, nationalism is rampant in this era...

Chile will join the league for now but is outraged by the unfairness of the League especially since it was decided on by a minority while other sleep. Chile votes nay on demilitarisation and will not move its troops from California. They are there for defense and any efforts to remove them will be regarded as an attempt to undermine the national security of Chile. I am willing to negotiate this later but right now the League and America itself is far to unstable for Chile to send its troops home. It's funny that you mentioned that sleeping thing. In real life, only 3 nations created the league. Even the country that had proposed it, America, was not involved in the League's Formation.

League Members Only:
I motion for the approval of the League Leader to only have the following powers: -The leader will get one vote like everyone else -The leader will become a virtual mediator if multiple people get a disagreement -The leader will call the majority of league issues to order, but that doesn't mean others can't purpose issues -The leader may be voted out of power
Yay or nay? We can change a couple clauses if necessary.

We can change a couple clauses if necessary. Let me comment on some parts of this proposal, though I am not of the league. 1. The leader will get one vote like everyone else. No veto means the leader cannot stop things such as 'gang up on (insert nation here) days', which clearly damage tha balance of power. 2. The leader will become a virtual mediator if multiple people get a disagreement. The leader might be biased and/or bribed. 3. Also, about the league itself: some large nations, like Me or probably most Eurasian NPCs, will not join. THen, they will become outside the rule of the League, like in WWII where large nations were either kicked out, never joined or left the IRL LoN, which could not do anything to them(even if some had stayed, the LoN could only impose economic sanctions, which was useless to nations like Japan who mostly traded with non-LoN nations (i.e. the USA)). The other parts I pretty much agree with. (I'd rather prefer a group of nations be the leader, like the 5 permanent members of the Security council, except we have too little nations to do that and we might have to have some kind of devastating world war to make it happen)

We can change a couple clauses if necessary. how about this?; The league will maintain a Peacekeeping Force. Member states are obliged to commit men to the force (the USA personally is ready to send men for the Force and will even bare the expenses of the troops of all countries, like they're training and their rations and where do they stay? stuff like that). The reason why I am asking for the Peacekeepers is simple, no one can stopped with words. You need to send the men in to force them to stop their "acts of aggression".

Wait... No 1848 revolutions?! Seriously? This is the Americas, not Europe. A mention of it should at least have SOME effect on the Americas, especially the former Spanish colonies which apparently have a strong fondness for revolutions, overthrowing their very own government at least a couple of times per century ever since they threw out the viceroys of Spain from their lands. and Napoleon Bonaparte, while it's true that LoN was ineffective because of lack of empowerment, I wouldn't give them one seeing as most countries would have protested to that idea during the 19th century. Also... let say if they didn't, and If you give them a peacekeeper force, it would either be laughably tiny and having no effect just much as the absence of a force OR it would be powerful enough to be a tyrant ruling all nations under its thumb. "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything that you have." - Thomas Jefferson

CUT and Napoleon Bonaparte, while it's true that LoN was ineffective because of lack of empowerment, I wouldn't give them one seeing as most countries would have protested to that idea during the 19th century. Also... let say if they didn't, and If you give them a peacekeeper force, it would either be laughably tiny and having no effect just much as the absence of a force OR it would be powerful enough to be a tyrant ruling all nations under its thumb. MORE CUT we will obviously keep a balance when it'll come to how many forces do we need. Not a laughable tiny, not even a aggressor. And besides, we can always call up more men from our own states if we have a manpower shortage.
