in aoc2, the map has been updated to this: lukaszjakowski.pl/img/age_of_civilizations_2_map.pngJakowski (creator) said that the game would be released in the beginning of 2017, betatesting however starts in december (if you apply). Some amount of provinces for countries (in 2016 gameplay): the current map has 1507 provinces in total. USA - 81 China - 59 Russia - 101 (OP?) Pakistan ( Napoleon Bonaparte) - 11 India - 34 Canada - 33 Brittain - 13 (UP?) Germany - 17 France - 18 Israel ( Jean-Luc Picard) - 1 New Zealand ( best75) - 5 Australia - 25 Italy - 15 Greece - 7 Ofcourse the provinces are saying something about the countries strength. however, all provinces have a certain strength. A province from greenland isn't as strong as a province from germany, a province from malta isn't as strong as a province from the us. a province from canada (not densely populated) is weaker than a province from denmark. so a country with 5 strong provinces can be better than a country with 10 weak provinces. |

invade belgium --> invade luxembourg.
establish a decent economy, Wait for france or germany to start a big war.
Declare war to germany or France.
Challenge switzerland-austria and make your way to the small balkan states. Conquer them,
You're now a big powerhouse.

List of probable challenges from map:
1. Playing as France, giving mainland to Germany, and making New Caledonia your base and try not to be gobbled by Australia.
2. Bhutan with hostile India/China.
3. And Nepal too, for that matter.
4. Canada, possibly. Canadia has lot of provinces, but a lot are just blank pieces of land, and its major pop centres (e.g. Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal) are near a certain #1 power in the world and its pop centres (New York, Seattle, Boston, Detroit, etc.).
5. Western Sahara? Barren place near 3 nations.
