By no means am I the "perfect general path maker," but I do think that we should have one. So, I'm going to be making this, and the more advanced players can contribute data on later generals. All suggestions will be welcome!
You're first given Robin Hood and he will suit your needs for awhile. You should continue playing campaigns to unlock Alexander. Once you've gotten Alexander, you can save up for Li Shimin while you also buy coin generals like Montezuma. Then you should get either Attila or Caesar. You should also be getting tavern generals from Vienna, Medina, Hamburg, New York, just don't get Joanne of Arc from Copenhagen, because she's not worth it.

You should always get coins generals because they are a lot and easy to farm and you will need for missions and you need 8 generals for Invasions and 7-8 ( can't remember) for Barbarossa 4 , and everyone is better than Leonidas.
I would say getting Li is the best choice, because Caesar, while good, is expansive+we have Alex + we need many more medals to mame him great ( skill wise) +he is just infantry . Attila, while certainly not bad, seems not as good to me in comparison to Saladin (Logistics) Suleiman ( incredibile defense cavalry +Rumor) or maybe even Ghenghis ( which is just an OP Attila)
So I would say: Leonidas-Alexander-Huo Oubling-Cleopatra-Hannibal-Moctezuma-( everybody else for coins) - Li Shimin-Barbarossa +(Joan of Arc) - Saladin - (Lincoln) - Catherine- ( Jhansi, James Wolfe)-Bismarck-Petain-Suleiman-Caesar-(every general)
Further notes: You should upgrade Hannibal so that he gets his "elephant dudes" for Stomp(100% infantry damage) .Huo Oubling is a bit weaker than we would want, certanly not endgame, but he gets stronger If You upgrade his Logistics ( but I am against IT, because he is only blue). Cleo should be leader in Balista, while Mocty is might be good enough for some endgame niche uses ( Panama being one of them ) due to his skills. Joan of Arc ia not really upgrading, she's just a meatshield, while Alexander is possible the 2nd Best infantry after Caesar. I would leave Li on Fire Dragon until he can get cannon, because Catapult = no splash and 3-3 range Barbarossa is a worthy companion for those who don't have Caesar Saladin is a really good cav dus to Logistics, which need to be ar least ar level 7. I don't really like Mr. Prezident, leave him as he is. Do not upgrade Leonidas in any way!!!!!

After LI Shimin you buy get Nobunaga, best archer general to buy in the game. Assuming you get the tavern generals I would go for Attila or Caesar next, both have braveness which I think you should get at least 1 endgame general that has it.

Joanne of Arc isn't worth the time in my opinion.

After LI Shimin you buy get Nobunaga, best archer general to buy in the game. Assuming you get the tavern generals I would go for Attila or Caesar next, both have braveness which I think you should get at least 1 endgame general that has it. If I would start over and do not buy IAP generals I would do: Alexander, saladin, bismarck 1. Buy caesar (health and braveness) 2. Buy Li Shimin (multi killing artillery beast, with logistics 3. Buy Nobunaga (best archer guy ever) And then depending on your game play choose. I have atilla which is nice butnot cheap. Or you get genghis and washingthinandthenyour done.. So if i would start over: genghis, washington, caesar, alexander, saladin, bismarck, lishimin, nobunaga

I was just trying to get the ball-rolling.

I think Nobunaga is the only solid choice that everyone must buy. Since getting Bismarck does not require Industrial Era, now we can use Cleopatra till we can get him, and Li Shimin is no longer necessary. So the path depends on two factors 1) What line up you want to play 2) Can you save up medals for endgame generals or want to invest some on interim generals along the way
So here's what I would do (assume no IAP general) - Start with Alexander - Invest some medals on good blue generals; Monte, Cleo, Catherine, etc - Get free tavern generals; Saladin, Barbarossa, Lincoln - Buy Nobunaga - Choose your focus, - Infantry, buy Caesar or Richard - Cavalry, buy Attila - Archer, buy Nelson - Get Bismarck - Buy more generals for more perks - Armor Master; Blucher or Yi Sun Sin - AOE damage; Li Shimin - Tank; Edward - Cover skill; Suleiman - Cool mustache; Peter - well, whoever

Ok, I made a "guide" for people who wouldn't buy IAPs, but I myself, bought Washington. I don't know who to get next, although he's been useful for saving up medals. I have Alexander, Washington, Robin Hood, Hannibal, Li Shimin, Cleopatra, Montezuma (Moctezuma), Joanne of Arc, and a couple weak ones. Who's next? I have like 2400 medals and I'm lvl 30. Edit: I'm tagging kanue since his guide was the most specific.
