Personally, I go with civ 5 Brave new world, and civ 3, I've never played civ 5 Beyond earth, but it looks like fun, or civ 6, but I love 5 with all the added DLCs, and 3 is a classic for me, that I would watch my dad play, he was really good at it, I never got good, but it was still fun.

Beyond Earth is it's own game. Its not Civ5 at all and from what I've heard it wasn't very good, though I haven't played it.
My favourite is Civ5 BNW.

Brave New World + Gods and Kings. I also have every single dlc. The whole thing was 90% off. Got it all for 3 euros including the base game.

Civ3, I had played it around 2004, and still installing and reinstalling on a new computer even now. Civ3 has outlasted 3 computers for me.
Love it (for the mods really). It's probably the most mod-friendly one. It's advanced enough to have strong "moddablity", a mod can really have a non-civ feeling for Civ3 but it's really harder to achieve that in Civ1 or Civ2 due to extreme limitations.
Civ4 and beyond the 4th one require extensive graphic work to modify the appearance or to insert a new unt since everything is in 3D.

Civ 5 Brave new world is a really good game, I recommend it, but it's up to you, I would look through the reviews on steam or something.

No. Get the real CD copy instead, it's much more friendly to mods being inserted into the scenario folder. Most mods doesn't work on Steam's version of Civ3. I believe it's because the Steam uses a completely different filing system.

"One more turn" syndrome, eh? I suffer the one more turn syndrome thing on civ 5 Brave new world... The One More Turn Syndrome applies to all of the Civ series, some more strongly, depending on how engrossed the player is while playing it.

"One more turn" syndrome, eh? OMT Syndrome is relly dangerous. I suffer greatly from it. Clearly I'm a vicious, ruthless war-crazy, psychopathic, battle-hardened, trigger happy tyrant in Civ3. Evidence: I don't suffer from "One More Turn" Syndrome, because I suffer from something along these lines... "Okay after I seize the objective I wanted, I will end this war and save, log off.... okay wait... after THIS war, I will be satisfied with enemy's head in my hands and his civ completely conquered THEN I will save, log off... no wait... I wanna to do this war before I sleep..." 4 hours later "Hah! Who needs sleep when I have captured 20 cities and wiped out 350 armies in them?! Sleep is for the weak!"
