A lot of people here are saying that the Communist Revolutions are the best, and I feel as though I must disagree, for the following reasons:
1. Communism places Group Equality over Personal Liberty.
Personal liberty is the idea that you, as your own individual self, have the ability before you to succeed, to share your opinion without harassment, and to do as you please so long as you don't endanger the Personal Liberty of others. In other words, the state does not discriminate against anyone and gives everybody the power to become successful, but does not force success, as with give you basic rights. You are able to go on the internet, vote, and talk freely because of this principle.
Group Equality is the idea that you are a member of the collective, and that you as a member of the collective, you must sacrifice your individuality and become the same as everyone else, whether it be economically, ideologically, whatever. In other words, the state tries to make everybody the same and attempts to force success.
Personal Liberty is clearly superior to Group Equality. It gives you the freedom to do anything you please so long as it does not infringe on the Personal Liberty of your fellow man. Group Equality makes you do everything the collective, or group, does, however, infringing on everyone's Personal Liberty. While Group Equality strives for equality of all, it will inevitably fail as nobody is exactly the same as anyone else, which Group Equality strives to accomplish.
This entire thing is summed up in one phrase: A society which places equality over liberty shall have neither equality nor liberty.
2. Communism inhibits economic growth.
While Communism theoretically should bolster the economy through state control and funding of the economy, it ultimately slows economical growth over time. Companies are designed to make money, that is their only purpose. Therefore, companies are more likely to succeed in making revenue than the state, which has to juggle responsibility of numerous different sectors. Also, in a capitalist society, businesses and companies are formed just about daily, meaning there is a better chance for a company or companies to succeed and become economically profitable than if only the government is able to handle the economy. And when companies succeed, they need a workforce, which decreases unemployment, which allows for people to have spending money, which allows people to buy those products the company produces, which then makes the companies bigger, which then forces them to increase production size, which then makes them hire more workers, etc. etc. And companies are constantly competing with each other, which forces to continue making more goods, hiring more workers, lowering prices of their goods, etc., and these measures help increase competition between companies which is better for the consumer and better for the economy. Communism doesn't allow for private companies or enterprise, meaning competition doesn't occur.
Now, the government does need to regulate companies, or else monopolies are formed, which is essentially the same outcome as a command economy as only one product is available on the market. This is why Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft are considered great presidents here in America as they helped break up monopolies, as with signing bills into law which increased the minimum wage, introduced safer working conditions, and introduced basic food and safety measures. So government interference in the economy is necessary in a functioning society, but so are companies and free enterprise.
