Okay, this is very out of topic. But I know some of you guys play this game. So I want to ask.. I'm playing as Spain, and I took France out. But suddenly rebels came out and nearly destroy my Empire. Why is that? And should I take North Africa? The trade routes there is intriguing. I really need it because my Spain is like Greece right now. Any tips please, I bought this game yesterday, so I am a begineer.. This game really looks good, can't help much though since I havent bought it. Btw this is not out of topic, since the OP or the creator of the thread is the one that decides what the topic is and we are in the other games section,so that's the right board too.

Here are some tips to lowering unrest: make sure you have cored all your provinces after that you can convert their culture or religion (if different than yours). Also if you have loads of war exhaustion you should drop it. Now for your economy problems id say u should fire any lvl 2 or 3 advisors (if u have only lvl 1 advisors u should fire them if your economy is absolute garbage). Also lowering your army/navy/colonial maintenance will help. Lastly you should go to the trade mapmode to find a tradenode with LOADS of money in it (the nodes of Genoa, Venice and the english channel will likely have the most because they are end nodes) and then sending a merchant to collect from trade there. Then you should build tons of light ships and put them protect trade in that node to increase your trade power which means more money. If you desperately need more money consider taking an quick war against some small country and take only money in the peace deal (if u have an extra diplo relation slot you can also take war reparations)

I've already taken a quick war against smaller countries, but suddenly HRE declares war against me and I've been struggling to stabilize the front.. Looks like I've too much negative prestige..

I think this is very out of topic because I asked tips for Europa Universalis 4 in the European War 4 forum By the way, yeah this game is very good.

Well you might have attacked a HRE member and thats why they attacked you because the emperor is going to defend HRE nations. If that is not the case you have probably just been too overextended. If your economy is back on track by now you should buy as many mercenaries as possible to try to stabilize the front and get some warscore so you can peace out of the war. One thing that you should remember is to watch where you engage and where you defend. You really dont want to engage anyone that is in mountains except some 1k stacks that will be just obliterated as the attacker will get a -2 terrain modifier which is pretty big. You also shouldnt try to defend in terrain like plains and such as the attacker will not get a penalty (unless crossing a river) so when defending station your troops in mountains or in hilly terrain if possible.

You can also raise war taxes from the economy screen to lower your army and navy maintenance by 50%. Also you should use some military power to try to get some better generals.

thetundrafox I haven't attacked any HRE countries. I just attacked Tunis and plan to attack Province when suddenly all HRE countries make military agreement and attacked me. But I've stabilized the front by calling my troops back from France to the mountainous area in Northern Spain, Scorched Earth tactics also worked great. And I'm currently marching to Rome. I don't know if I could march to Prussia or not.. Thanks for the tips!
