Nice job dude. I just barely beat Yekaterinberg. I can’t even imagine what Volgograd is like. It is what Volgograd was for Germans in 1942 Hell on earth. Good thing is that we have a nice guide made by andrei. You have to read it. There are several missions like that in EW5. Really difficult missions. There is nothing similar to them in EW6 or WC4. For example, to beat Panama I personally invented a method that took more than 4 hours to complete it. And you can't save/load these missions. And I was happy as a child when I did it. Good for me that my team was powerful enough to complete it in more conventional way the second time. I guarantee that you never will forget the names of those missions - Volgograd, Panama, Rio-de-Janeiro, Atlanta, Los Angeles etc... First reaction almost always was: "Are you joking? These missions are simply impossible to complete!!!". But then you are sitting, you are thinking, you are trying again and again... And like a poet or a musician you are finding the best words or notes. And step by step you complete these missions each time feeling like a genius who right now created a masterwork

The unexpected revival of EW5 board made me curious and I decided to try another EW5 quest Now my idea is either to introduce two new generals - Heihachiro and Suleiman or one new general (but which one!!! ) - Xerxes (and, probably, Petain, if no-one will complete the game with him in the team before me).

A third time? Man, you're crazy! I like it How long did it take you on the second go? It took me about 6 months first time but I'm sure it's possible in less, maybe 3-4? What formation are you going for? Infantry again?

Infantry is tempting... Caesar is the only expensive general. Barbarossa and Xerxes are free, and Peter and Petain are cheap and easy to upgrade. Probably I will hire Blucher, Li Shimin and Mocte/Yi Sun-sin as well. Otherwise it will be quite an expensive team: Attila-Suleiman-Blucher-Asoka Heihachiro-Khalid Caesar Li-Nobunaga

I guess Archcom would be too easy for a man of your calibre, however if you want a real challenge you could be the first to do an Artcom lineup You're tempting me to have another go now, except I'm not sure what I could bring that was new (there's no way I'm doing Artcom!) or if I want to commit to the whole thing again.

I recall there was an old (well, relatively old ) movie... A victim was asking a serial killer why he is doing all these terrible things, what are his aims... The answer was: - Aims? I don't have any aims... I simply like it.

Oh, and it would be good to have the definitive list of milestones for daily missions if you feel like taking note of them...

Hi Stoic,
I remember that you have the last version of game with the special item - book. Maybe Art of War or something. I cannot find the proper thread. Do you know what that item does game-wise?
Thanks

Thanks I found the thread that you're referring to european-war-4.boards.net/thread/5388/ah-mere-infantry-poor-beggars?page=3Unfortunately it contains more questions than answers so we'll have to wait and see if stoic (or anyone else) ever got round to buying it.

Now that I think about it, the <Art of War> seems weird. Is it an accessory item (like the necklaces and rings?) Or can it be a universal item, fitting all 4 equipment slots? We'll never know, but I doubt it'll make too much a difference since there are better equipment in-game.

Thanks Yep I know it, though it was a bit disappointing... Those books are some kind of replacement of normal items. Though they are very expensive, the bonuses they give are very modest. To be honest I don't know why someone will choose those books instead of even purple items. Maybe the idea was to give us other equipment after all legendary sets are collected, but unfortunately practical value of them is limited...

Thanks. So dissapointing, I thought of something like: Whenever an equipped general kills an enemy unit, there is 5% chance to get 10 medals...

Well, I completed EW5 some time ago again. Now with this team: Attila - Black Prince - Blucher (from time to time I used Asoka as well). Mocti-Li Caesar Khalid-Bismarck So I have two new names for the endgame teams summary - Edward and Khalid. I was impressed by two things actually. 1. Attila's power. Singlemalt said that he is good but really I didn't think he is so good, especially with support of Edward. 2. Field hospital. Caesar and Mocty together are very impressive - 300 HPs each turn for all members of the team especially taking into account that I had Blucher and a number of generals with Leadership - Li, Mocty, Edward... So now I too have achieved 2nd dan, here's my team: Atilla, Suleiman, Blucher, Edward Nelson, Yi Sun-sin Cleopatra, Khalid/Bismarck So the formation is 4 Cav, 2 Arch, 2 Arty - however, I subbed in Bismarck for Edward in Volgograd. I think that's two new names for the list: Suleiman & Cleo.
