DO NOT KILL THE AIR CRAFT CARRIER! I managed to two star that by B linging to the highlighted port near the carrier. Then go stright for mountbatten with subs (use all resources to make crusiers and subs). Meanwhile you're only tank must play safe in hope that the itialians decide to contribute to the land fight instead of just attacking destroyers and subs with land units. I think you have to make killing the aircraft carrier priority and focus on killing him at the start. If you don't he's gonna keep air striking your forces. I never did and walked away with two stars, I found all time being focused into killing the carrier took away time from killing the reinforcement fleet (which wasnt moving as long as the carrier stood or till the dialog box saying to reinforce the primary fleet). I never really noticed the air strikes and still managed to take out all the targets.

My method 2 would be to follow the Italians in attacking target island. After overrunning it, replenish your navy & attack Mountbatten.
With spare $$, build ships in your starting port to attack middile island. Then quuckly attack target port.

I still think the best way to do axis 5 is to spam subs and focus on attacking Cunningham's group in the south. Once you take the port spawn subs from there and go for Mountbatton.

I will say one thing about that mission. I will not play the hard veraion till I have a few navy generals. You get six generals in hard mode and better starting units, but you have to take that first city on the west side of the map. I used one tank and one artillery general and put the rest in ships. I keep three pure naval generals, and I can use Yamamoto as a fourth if he isn’t needed in a carrier. You really need three naval generals for some of the hard mode stuff and the later Domination exercises and battles.

The final campaign for the Allies Europe battlefront is horrible. I have only vaututin as my general and i can clear every city including berlin but the top 2 cities are impossible to get to if i want the gold stars. The atomic bomb given to you also don't do much to the General Manstein.

The atomic bomb given to you also don't do much to the General Manstein. The nuke will do more damage if you lure Manstein out of the city. You can usually do this by using a weak infantry unit as bait. Put it three squares away so he has to move out of the city to kill it. He will usually do so, then you can drop the nuke and not have the damage split between him and the city fortifications.

soonerjbd, I don't have two navy generals, especially not so early in the campaign. My only general is Leeb, but I did try your strategy which unfortunately was not successful. However, I can vouch for the strategy of uniting with Graziani and circling around to Mountbatten. That worked for 2 stars. I used Leeb on the tank and he didn't do anything besides capture the northern city.

He does not leave the city no matter even though I place inf there. Does this only work when light inf is used? I was forced to whittle down his HP with strategic bomber, drop a nuke then launch all-out attacks just to take Berlin.

The idea of luring him out works on almost every mission and conquest except allies 11, he must be scripted to stay at berlin no matter what.

I got him to leave, but I did so very early and am wondering if this got patched when they released Cold War. I have also seen him leave the city when I started hitting other cities.

Could well be a patch. I personally never see he's leaving Berlin as well. He has nervs of steel in my version of the game
