In the campaign mode I am almost done with axis on the european front yet I can not get past the battle of kursk in allies. I personally never had an issue three starring any mission in the axis senarios. Does anyone else feel this to be true or am I just imaging this

Battle of Stalingrad is hard for Axis;(The only one that is having me pinned for so long). As for the Allies I am stuck in Operation Bagration. My only general is Bock.

I thought they were both equally hard.

Axis powers (and especially Germany) have the best generals of the game. You feel very confident to start the game with a Manstein and a Guderian... other generals are no match for them.
It’s easier to defeat your enemies, but the problem if you play Axis is that basically, you need to conquer the whole map... after a while, your game will get very boring. At least that’s always my feeling when playing Germany.
Round 1 to 50 -> The most interesting part.
From round 50 to 100 -> Suddenly you get bored, and just want to finish the game as soon as possible. Missile spam... again, again and again.

For some reason I can't kill Mountbatten no matter what. Must be because he's a god. I think that the Allies is harder, I only managed one star at Kursk.

You need to ensure the security of your 2X sub & 2X cruiser. They are VITAL in killing Mountbatten. Cunningham's navy group is protected, their close proximity to each other & the British sea mines make it hard for a direct assault. You can only lure them out ship by ship. However, DO NOT lead a direct attack on this group, you need to blitz through the British navy to reach Mountbatten with a largely intact force. I sent the closest destroyer & the 2X cruiser to aid Graziani's group. Then, the 2X cruiser moves against the center island (destroyer sacrificed itself in attacking target island. Your remnant force to position your ships well to flank & destroy protruding navy ships from center island. NOTE: DO NOT sail too close to Cunningham's group or else they'll attack you. After taking over center island, send the 2X cruiser & 2X sub with some escorts (recommended to have 1 full HP cruiser at least) to engage Mountbatten after your navy defended center island. Then, once navy group Mountbatten sails to sink him, spawn subs to take target port. NOTE: I have not tried to the strategy where we unite with Graziani's forces & circle around the map with his troops yet.

I attacked Cunningham's group right at the start and was able to capture the port. From there my forces went to kill Mountbatton with everything I had. I did not send any help to my ally or do anything about the center island.

I basically spammed subs to Cunningham, than the harbour and than Mountbatten. Pretty much like axis 7 in wc3

My strategy on Axis 5 was to use in general on tank, one in stacked cruiser. Build triple stacked sub in port in turn 1 and put last general there. Hopefully you have two naval generals. Use a general with Rumor on the ships if at all possible. Have Navy go to center island and let your tank general and motorized infantry hang back. Take out enemy ships and coastal artillery. Bombard city as you land tank generals. Take city. Let motorized infantry defend it and send tankngeneral to northeast city if Graziani is having trouble. Spam subs as you can. Use navy to take port on southeast island. Then use naval generals to box in Mountbatten and stun lock him with Rumor. Focus him down with everything you have. Once he is stun locked, you don’t have to worry about retaliation.

I managed to two star that by B linging to the highlighted port near the carrier. Then go stright for mountbatten with subs (use all resources to make crusiers and subs). Meanwhile you're only tank must play safe in hope that the itialians decide to contribute to the land fight instead of just attacking destroyers and subs with land units.

I think you have to make killing the aircraft carrier priority and focus on killing him at the start. If you don't he's gonna keep air striking your forces.
