I have been in World War One but not so to go for the long run. My story ended down in water as a mine struck my ship.
I might be the usual moutstache general of world war 1 but in BJs world of the Great War I am seen on my city of London from time to time.

What was the source of the metal from which the original Victoria Cross medals were struck? Bronze? They are bronze, but you'll need to be more specific on where the bronze came from.

They are bronze, but you'll need to be more specific on where the bronze came from. Bronze from Russian cannons, captured during the Crimean war.

Bronze from Russian cannons, captured during the Crimean war. Correct! Your turn. Ok, next try... I was a British American frontiersman, born to Irish immigrants. I served the British Army in the French and Indian war and the American Revolutionary War. I raised and commanded an innovative militia company, trained for special operations and long-range reconnaissance. I showed an unusual talent for commanding such units in conditions to which the regular armies of the day were unaccustomed. My remarkably effective unit was quickly adopted to the British Army and expanded to an independent light infantry corps. I wrote an early guide about my tactics. It’s quoted respectfully on the first page of a U.S. Army's elite handbook. The Handbook summarizes my principles of irregular warfare. Several light infantry regiments in the USA and Canada claim me to be their founder. Despite being a king’s appointee I could never capitalize my fame and died in obscurity and debt in London.

Ok, more hints: My “28 rules of ranging” is considered as the model for all Ranger activities. In a modified version it forms the basis of the “Standing Orders” of the US Army Rangers

Nope. Cmon, with the last hint you’ll easily find the name. We're not supposed to look for it though! I know I've heard of him, just can't bring it to the front of my mind...
